[Plot] You Say You Want a Revolution...

"Whazzat now?"

"You think you could do it? Be a drum set?"

[Robin Stanton]

"Heck yeah! Modern or we talkin' proper war drums?"

[Samantha McManus]

"Surprise me. I'll make it work."

[Robin Stanton]

"You got it!" she says and splorches to the ground, rising back up as a drumset with all the various modern pieces, except they're all made from hide and bones and furs. And is the bass-drum ringed with fangs? Sure is!

[Samantha McManus]

Sam sits down at the drums and starts building a rhythm.

In spite of the size of the crowd, it somehow seems like everyone can hear it. Indeed, many of them find it hard to ignore, and soon the chants are in time with the beat.

[Will Stanton]

Will grimaced as the drums started, squeezing one hand in the other.

[Shane Marsh]

A returning Shane strummed a version of the guitar work on his acoustic as he followed Sam's lead.

Zandra reached for her calming ray by her belt, but Will put a hand out stopping her, before crossing the quad.


"Oy, Ringo. Ya think you can turn that down about eight blips or something?" he said...oddly.

"Zis does not sound like ze reprise of 'Do you Hear Ze People Sing'..."

To be fair, that's about the only protest song she's ever head.

The drum set tilts a cymbal in confusion before the base drum mouth responds between beats. "Best I can do is four by three in a box." the toothed drum grins.

[Will Stanton]

"Some people are trying to study, and all this kerfluffle isn't exactly quenching their thirst, you dig?"

As the drums reached a precise beat, everyone in the quad would find their phones vibrating in time with the drums as text messages and text-messaged images hit the phones in a precise cadence from an unknown number.

Sam's phone speaker activated, volume modulating to her hearing range, though it was still Natalie's voice. "All yours, Morrigan."

With that, Sam starts up a chant of her own, which is similarly as hard to ignore as the beat she's pounding out on the drums.

"We came for an education!"

"Not experimentation!"

It's quickly taken up by a large part of the crowd.

[Robin Stanton]

"I dig. Stay fresh, cheesebag." Robin says as everyone's phones start buzzing and Sam starts chanting.

[Shane Marsh]

"Jig's up assholes," Shane laughed.

[Will Stanton]

Quinn and Zandra reached for their various calming devices.

Will, glancing around, took a more direct approach, stretching out his arm to give an unexpected uppercut to the Morrigan's chin.

[Leo Eskandari]

A furious Leo charged towards Zandra, looking ready to tear the prefect apart.

"You bastards!"

[Samantha McManus]

It takes an awful lot to throw an unexpected punch at the Morrigan when she's this in-tune with a battlefield.

And credit where it's due, Will almost seems like he's going to pull it off, at first.

But it turns out she's just waiting for where he fits in the rhythm, throwing a drumstick up in the air as she catches the fist in a firm grip.

"You all saw it. They threw the first punch," she says, her words still carrying that odd weight.

Then she tosses the elongated arm aside, catches the drumstick, and doesn't miss a beat.

Frustrated, Will leapt at Sam, eyes flashing with legitimate anger as he sought to take her down.

[Zandra Rogers]

A furious Leo charged towards Zandra, looking ready to tear the prefect apart.

Zandra whirled and fired the calming ray at Leo, cranking it up as strong as it would go.

With the drummer being tackled Robin is knocked aside in a crash of cymbals and drums, rolling for a moment before shifting back to normal, continuing to roll for a bit and finally coming to a stop as she jumps to her feet, wobbling in place for a moment like an inflatable used-car-lot thingie.

Leo stopped in his tracks, thoroughly dazed.

Shane stopped playing his guitar and launched vines to ensnare Zandra's legs and bring her down.

[Quinn Quartermain]

Quinn barked something into his communicator again, firing the calming ray at Will and Sam, as Will continued to try to get a punch in.

Zandra was busy watching Leo before Shane's counter-attack could happen, and was thus unprepared for when Shane's tendrils whipped her off her feet.

[Samantha McManus]

"What did they do to you, Will?" She asks as they tumble, weathering the blows, her body reinforcing to take them.

She's not throwing any of her own, as of yet.

"What did they tell you? I didn't think you could be bought."

[Will Stanton]

"I'm university property. I'm bought and sold as a regular occurrence," he spat back. "And it's nice to be actually appreciated by someone for once. Given purpose and allowed to be myself."

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Quinn firing his beam at the two of them. Quickly, he shifted his arm to a steel blade, and jabbed it into the tougher Sam's rib cage, twisting it to make it more painful, before his eyes started to glaze over from the calming effects of the ray.


The pain, however, kept Sam's head a little clearer.

Submit. Comply. Relax. Give in...

[Robin Stanton]

"Sam! The show must go on! Even if stage-fright's got you green around the gills! Yeah?" Robin shouts as she throws an elongating punch Quinn's way.

[Shane Marsh]

Shane proceeded to wrap the vines around the speedster's legs while keeping his distance.

[Samantha McManus]

"Oh, they've got some disappointment coming if they think these toys work on the Morrigan," she grunts in pain, her side bleeding as she tosses Will off of her.

[Will Stanton]

Will landed in a rapidly melting heap, overwhelmed by the effects of the calming ray.

[Zandra Rogers]

Shane proceeded to wrap the vines around the speedster's legs while keeping his distance.

"Dude, not fucking cool," Zandra said, vibrating her legs back and forth as fast as she could.

She didn't slip through the vines - what, was this a comic book? -- but the friction on plant material might well start a fire as she kept it up. Probably not great for Shane!

"Two can play at that game," he smirked, making the vines secrete concentrated poison ivy toxin, "I hope you like poison ivy!"

He also sent a vine after the calming ray, intending to steal it.

Seeing Will taken down, Quinn cursed, and turned the calming ray first on Robin. If it melted one shifter...

He also sent a vine after the calming ray, intending to steal it.

"Fucking bastard!" Zandra called back.

The vines DID give Zandra a nasty case of poison ivy, but that meant that Shane had never really removed them from her person. As such, they DID burst into flame from the repeated rubbing, before his other tendril could come get the calming ray.

Shane cursed and severed his vines from his body.

"Fuck, that hurt!" he hissed.

[Leo Eskandari]

But Shane bought enough time for Leo to recover sufficiently to sluggishly dash over to try and put his proverbial foot down on Zandra's arm.

[Samantha McManus]

"Is this what you expected?" She calls out to the crowd.

"Prefects attacking a peaceful protest? Shooting strange rays at people?"

"Does this strike you as something people who respect mutants and their personal agency would do?"

[Robin Stanton]

"Hell! No! They gotta gobglblgbll..." Robin starts chanting before the beam makes her go slack and wobbly, whole body drooping and sagging.
