Victor polished off his herbal cigarette about halfway between the Point and the Dorms as the two of them walked back to campus. The immediate danger had been dealt with, at least as far as he knew. Another period of boredom between bedlams, just like serving in the army during a war. He pinched off and rolled his cig before popping the butt in his pocket, never much one for flicking litter around.

"How long do you think it'll take before they figure out how to put our spark plugs back in?"

[Emilie]

"I don't know. But knowing these people it will be as immediately as possible. After they've been spoon-fed enough of the 'you're not a weirdo, you're gifted' nonsense, most of them couldn't stand to be normies for more than five minutes." Emilie replied, not putting away her vape pen just yet. Someone here had an actual addiction.

"True nuff, though I wouldn't be surprised if some of 'em decide to cut and run. It's a lot easier to accept it as a gift when people can't out you just by looking at you."

Victor looked out at the skyline over the trees. "So, this might be your last night as a normie. Whatcha wanna do?"

Emilie shrugged.

"Nothing in particular. Ain't nothing I can or can't do one way that I couldn't another.

Why? What're you thinking?"

Victor stuck his hands in jacket pockets. "You got your license, right?"

[Emilie]

"Yea?" She said back, it more sounded like a question than anything.

Victor pulled a set of car keys out of his pocket and tossed them in Em's direction.

"Let's go for a drive then."

[Emilie]

"OoOoOooOooooo." Emilie hit the button on the key fob to find out which one one of the cars in the parking lot it was.

In the staff section of the parking lots, a green Jaguar XJ flashed its headlights.

"There's a drive-in theatre like 25 minutes from here in Colchester. What do you say we get some popcorn & nachos and wipe our hands on the seats?"

"Lippincott's Jag seems like a fair trade for superpowers." She smirked. "Imma drop a slushie in the seat."

"And mess up all his presets." Victor grinned and leaned against the passenger door for a minute, waiting for Emilie to get close enough for the proximity fob to unlock it before he slipped inside.
