It's Not the Fall That Kills You

Will Stanton stood on the edge of the admin building, feeling the wind blowing through his hair. He closed his eyes, feeling the sun beating down on his face, smelling the freshness in the air. He took a step forward, startling a couple pigeons which had perched on the ledge, and stretched his arms out wide -- just him, alone, with the elements around him. He smiled, at one with the world; at peace with the sounds of nature around him.

He then took another step forward, hurtling off the ledge. Now, the wind really was whipping up, flowing around him as he plummeted. He spread-eagled himself, getting maximum exposure as he went, hurtling downwards at 9.8 meters per second.

The body made a wet *splat* sound as it impacted the ground. Will could feel his bones snapping, his femur pushed up through his ribcage as his body was destroyed by the massive crash.

And for a moment, the body just lied there in the sun, staining the pavement below. Just for a moment, however; it slowly reconstituted itself, twisting, shaking and congealing back into the green-haired boy, lying on his back and looking up at the clouds, a smile on his face.

It would take more than a little fall to end Will Stanton. Nothing could end him, and nothing ever would. Smiling, at peace, he hopped back up and headed towards the stairs to do it all over again.
