Xaviers!

Emilie had no idea what caused the mayhem in the cafeteria, she didn't want to know. All she knew at the moment was that she'd spent hours helping clean up the mess and was on her 'lunch' break right now, with hours more to go before they'd be completely done. She didn't normally have a lunch break, but then again she also normally didn't have to help clean syrup out of a florescent light fixture either. Or ever, really. Sooooo there's that.

Instead of eating (she'd had her 'fill' of food for the moment) she had ducked behind the building carrying her satchel. Flopping on the ground in a lotus sitting position, she dropped her satchel into her own lap as she did and flipped back the flap, digging around for a smaller bag inside it. She pulled out a vaporizer and dumped the rest of the contents into her open palm.

Shit, only three left. she thought to herself. She'd been saving them for just such an occasion. Everyone had habits to calm themselves, Emilie's was just a little dated and unhealthy. Alright, a lot unhealthy. But her health was never something that concerned her. She considered herself practically immortal when compared to others. She'd never been ill in her lifetime (at least that she could remember), only wounded and battered. Which in her mind meant a silly thing like smoking wasn't going to do her any harm.

The cartridges were from varying sources, but she knew which one had the highest concentration of nicotine from memory and about near broke her vaporizer trying to get it into the damn thing. Once she had it proper, she crammed it into her mouth to inhale. The scent emanating from the device was actually rather pleasant, though she was a bit concerned if she came back into work smelling like bourbon they might question what she'd gone and done on her break.

Oh well. She leant back against the brick wall to try and mellow.

Tosh walked up.

"Ugh... is the cafeteria still not back open?"

Emilie had dropped her heart shaped shades over her eyes before Tosh's arrival and was just in the middle of an inhale when Tosh walked up to see if he could get some food. She let the vapor out as she spoke from her crossed legged position. A reader might find a vague resemblance to the Caterpillar in her manner.

Or maybe just a pot smoking hippy for everyone else.

"Sorry man. Gonna be a bit. Someone or something fucked up the place pretty bad.

Brought up the idea of sack lunches for dinner to my coworkers, so that might be all that's on the menu."

"Damn. Know anywhere cheap but not gross in town?"

"Nope. Not from around these parts. But if you don't tell all the other kids, I'd be willing to sneak in and getcha something. I just don't wanna spend my whole break doing that." She laughed.

"You really don't want to offer that to me then," he chuckled. "I eat a lot."

Emilie laughed in return. "Well, just a little something then so you don't starve on yer way into town?" She offered again. She would feel a bit guilty sending him off empty handed.

"Well... what's available? Scratch that, I'll actually eat just about anything. The hunger beast isn't picky."

"Haha. Alright dude. See ya on the flip. " Emilie disappeared into the cafeteria building and returned far too quickly for her to have prepared Tosh anything. She tossed him a brown paper bag containing a peanut butter and Orange marmalade sandwich, a green Apple, and a packet of 'crisps'. "Eat up."

"Thanks," he smiled.

Aww. No meat Bro.

Gift horse. Mouth.

"I'm Tosh, by the way," he said as he opened the crisp bag.

"Emilie." She replied after another long drag. She gave him a moment to eat before continuing, just to fill the silence between them. " What brings you to the school?"

"I went to XI. Coming here next seemed logical."

"Mmmmm." Emilie responded thoughtfully with a mouth full of smoke.

"So I take it you are on the teams then."

"I turn into an eight foot musclebound electric shark-thing, so... yeah."

"Hey you never know. Maybe you're actually a really good accountant and you came to learn how to do the books for the institute. There's a lot of bread in numbers my friend." She smirked, obviously joking.

"I'd say something snarky about the 'Asians sure are good at math' stereotype, but I'm a hypertech engineering student," he smirked.

"Well if you are seriously considering smashing stereotype walls for equality maybe you can give all your extra math skills to me, then I won't fail again and fulfill the girl stereotype for ' I not know how math' . " She offered jovially.

"Nah. I'm better at smashing literal walls."

"Yea, me too." She offered vaguely. "Not as good as some though. I'd sure you'd outdo me. Especially when you go all Gojira and zap things. I can't do that."

"What is your power then?"

Placing her vaporizer between her teeth, Emilie holds up her left hand, balling it into a fist. After a moment, a wobbly, barely visible force forms around it.

Then she does something she had not shown to the others before. It slowly changes colour into the dark smokey colour similar to the heavy tint of the windows on a celebrity's limo.

"I can make it solid instead of transparent as well, but if others can't see through it then neither can I."

"Nice," he nodded approvingly, "What's your size limit?"

Again, Emilie showed rather than told, her left hand back at her smoke. Slowly it grew to engulf the both of them, but with Emilie's back to a wall that edge of it bumped up against the brickwork, molding and conforming around it like a plastic bubble. The side of her that wasn't against a wall grew out in distance of about ten feet. She held it there for a moment, then proceeded to try to push further, but it flickered and dispelled after that.

"Not far. Nobody should be moving too far away from me if they're looking for back up. Hence, why I am not trying out for teams. Don't really like peoples lives being on the line due to my own shortcomings."

"I understand that worry completely. I'm just lucky my other side is a badass, because regular me is kind of a pussy."

Emilie kept her cringe at the harsh word entirely internal, reminding herself that it was just the modern version of 'pansy' or 'yellow'. She did decide to challenge his thinking about it however, in her normal sardonic manner.

"A pussy can take a real beating ya know. Babies the size of watermelons come out of some of them, not to mention how they get that way." she laughed.

He blushed.

"S-sorry."

"No apologies necessary my friend." She paused to regard his blushing. "Girls are gonna loooooove you."

"Wha?"

"Well yer smart, right? In engineering? And apparently shy too. And while ya ain't my type, you ain't bad looking either.

Yep. You'll do well here." She said with complete confidence. Mostly she said it because anyone who describes themselves as he did probably needed a self-esteem boost.

"Being smart and shy hasn't exactly gotten me girls before," he sighed.

"That was high school, neh? This is college. Same game, New rules. Prestige stops being about who is the biggest and starts being about who makes the most money. Think like this: how many football players get laid in high school? Now how many of those same jocks go pro with their skills versus the number who barely skid through with an associates? Early peaking is a bitch bro. Better to shore up you bets with a boy who's skills are long term. "

"You make a good point," he chuckled.

And Haley totally wanted you Bro.

"All my points are awesome always." She beams a grin far too wide to be anything but genuine. "Stick around me too long and your noggin will swell up like a balloon though, ha."

"Well, take a number, I already have parents and a voice in my head for excess encouragement," he smirked.

"Shifter mental weirdness at it's best."

" Alternate personalities?' She asked.

"Exactly. A more confident, albeit less intelligent, me that takes the front seat when I go all kaiju."

"Well smashy smashy doesn't require a master's,i should know. I'm sure he'll do okay too." She laughed. "I must admit I am curious to see this now, but not so curious as to want to tempt what brings him around."

"Oh it's not a Hulk Rage or anything. Well, except that first time."

Emilie thought about it for a moment. " Well maybe he can pretend it is like I do sometimes to get away with smashing more shit.

Opps did I say that in the outside voice? Forget I said that.

Smashing shit is aces though. I highly enjoy it when the rare opportunity comes."

"I certainly do when I'm Bruce."

He groaned.
