DT2: Shadows on the Grounds

[Onyx]

((open))

Onyx casually wandered through the grounds, holding her schoolbooks in one hand and doing her best to make it look as if she was slowly making her way towards class.

She was almost certain she was being watched. Luckily, they didn't seem to know that she knew they were watching her. Or, if they did know, they weren't letting her know that they knew that she knew.

Onyx hadn't slept in a couple of days. Thank goodness masks covered up dark circles underneath the eyes.

[Nailah Weaver]

Spotting her from across the yard Nailah waves at Onyx enthusiastically and starts to jog over to her.

"Hey, there you are."

[Onyx]

"Nailah," Onyx says, sounding happy but tired. "I'm glad to see you. It's been ages, y'know?"

[Nailah Weaver]

"Yeah, we keep missing each other. Wing's all better again." she says, stretching her previously bandaged wing a little. "How have you been?" she asks a bit awkwardly. The last time she'd seen Onyx had been when they'd spend the day curled up in bed and she wasn't really sure what to make of the fact that she hadn't seen Onyx around much since then.

[Onyx]

Onyx leans against Nailah, "I've been well. Very busy with classes. I'm having trouble with history. I think I might need some help."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Oh." Nailah seems surprised for a moment but then smiles. "Well, I can totally try to help." she nods. She's not exactly a history buff, but it's not like she can really turn down the opportunity to help Onyx.

[Onyx]

Onyx looks very relieved, "Thank you."

She leads Nailah over to a bench and sits down. She sets aside some of her books and opens her history book, taking a pen out from her belt.

"I was only raised with local history," Onyx says. "A great deal of these stories are new to me. I feel like I am missing context. Like this..."

Onyx has scribbled over the top of the page: "WE ARE BEING WATCHED"

"Do you understand that?"

[Nailah Weaver]

Nailah looks confused for a moment and looks up at Onyx to ask a question. When she sees the expression on Onyx' face she suddenly seems to catch on to what she's trying to do.

"Uhm... I'm not super familiar with it. Maybe we should... go back to the beginning of the chapter?"

[Onyx]

"Yes. That may help," Onyx says. As she talks about fake problems she's having with her history work, she continues making notes.

Last two days.
Car following me in town.
Tracker on my bag.
Not sure if campus is safe.

[Nailah Weaver]

Nailah tries to split her attention between what they're talking about and what Onyx is writing, but she doesn't do nearly as good a job of it, just kind of babbling about whatever actual history stuff is on the page while she tries to follow along Onyx' notes.

you think they can hear us?
i didn't see anybody suspicious

She nervously glances around to see if she can spot anybody watching the two of them. She's not super obvious about it, but not particularly sneaky either.

[Onyx]

There doesn't appear to be anything out of the ordinary.

"I do not know," Onyx admits.

Worried. Bad feeling.

[Nailah Weaver]

maybe we could go somewhere else?
I don't see anybody but if you think someone is watching...

[Onyx]

Onyx nods. "That is not a bad idea."

[Nailah Weaver]

Nailah nods and gets up. "Come on, we can study in my room. Less wind flapping our notes around." she smiles.

[Onyx]

Onyx smiles, "That sounds wonderful, ma'am."

She gathers up her books and follows after Nailah.

[Nailah Weaver]

Nailah continues to keep her eyes out for anybody who might be following them or watching them as she leads Onyx back to the dorms. She has yet to doubt the possibility that someone is after Onyx. Someone is, after all, out for her.
