I2DT: Landing gear not included

[Charles Franklin]

Charles descended towards the ground. Despite practicing he still hadn't quite figured out the whole landing thing, which was probably apparent to everybody when a winged insectoid horror crash landed on the quad in a cloud of dirt, grass, wings, and limbs.

[Shane Marsh]

"Bloody hell!" Shane exclaimed as he narrowly avoided being ironically smashed by a bug. Without really thinking about it, he broke out in thorns as he prepared to defend himself from the oddly awkward creature.

[Charles Franklin]

"Well, at least I didn't hit the tree this time, eh?" Charles asked aloud as he collected himself and rose to his feet. Yeah, he was a little unaware that what just happened might be considered strange. He looked over at Shane with what may have been a dozen insect-like eyes, one wing was a bit broken but with a a loud snapping noise seemed to fix itself.

"Didn't even hurt this time," Charles said in his strange chittering voice.

[Shane Marsh]

"Uhh... you're... a student?" he asked hesitantly, thorns retreating.

[Charles Franklin]

"Unless I crash landed at the elementary school again," Charles said, "Thinking back I'm not really sure if the screaming was really necessary or the whole teachers chasing me with cricket things, eh."

[Shane Marsh]

"Well why the bloody hell were you dive-bombing little kids then? Shits and giggles?"

"...though the teacher reaction is a little hilarious."

[Charles Franklin]

"What? No, I got a bit lost and I was just going to touch down and get my bearings," Charles said, "Everything just looks the same when you're flying high and then the landing just didn't go so well and I guess all the kids were playing that whole cricket thing... or maybe it was rounders? They weren't really willing to answer questions while chasing me and I never did quite figure out where I was, but I probably shouldn't go back anyways, eh?"

[Shane Marsh]

"They really thought cricket bats would stop an what they clearly assumed was a brain-eating insectoid space monster from Planet Ofuck?"

[Charles Franklin]

"I guess they thought they could keep me from eating the children or something," Charles said, "Which I don't do and tried to tell them, but they didn't believe me at all."

[Shane Marsh]

"Would you believe you?"

[Charles Franklin]

"I'd never really thought of it that way, eh," Charles said, "I mean how often do giant intelligent English speaking insects fall from the sky? Why would they need to be interested in eating people? What if I was a super intelligent vegan insect from beyond the stars?"

[Shane Marsh]

"Oh so they only want to devour our brains metaphorically." Obviously he isn't a vegan.

[Charles Franklin]

"Yes, by giving you their infinite knowledge that allowed them to travel light years to say hello, eh," Charles said.

[Shane Marsh]

"But only if we stop eating anything that casts a shadow," he smirked.

[Charles Franklin]

"Only if you want to know the deeper mysteries," Charles said as he began to shift back to his normal human form.

[Shane Marsh]

"For a moment there I thought you might be one of those poor sods stuck looking... different," he said, sounding oddly jealous.

[Charles Franklin]

"Be a tight squeeze getting into a classroom like that," Charles said standing on the quad in the standard one piece shifting uniform.

[Shane Marsh]

"Or anywhere with a roof, or doorways, or entomophobes."

[Charles Franklin]

"I think most people are once the insect is big enough to drain them of all their vital fluids after only a few moments," Charles said.

[Shane Marsh]

"Not so many here though. It's amazing how less pants-pissing things are after fighting literal monsters."

[Charles Franklin]

"Suppose so, eh?" Charles said sounding a bit uncertain on that point.

[Shane Marsh]

"Well if you can stand up to, say a giant fuckin' tree monster, and come out alive, why be afraid of mundane shit... yeah?"

[Charles Franklin]

"Yeah, but fear is important, right?" Charles asked. "Otherwise you do something horribly rash like try to punch Magneto when you're made of metal."

[Shane Marsh]

"Naturally. Or you picking a fight with a giant can of bug spray."
