Mysterious Meetings

Amy, as promised, is waiting in front of the garage that afternoon. She's leaning against the wall with her arms crossed, looking kind of dubious. The last time she talked to Basil didn't exactly go great.

"Ah! There you are. Good afternoon Amy! "

He seemed pleasant enough today. For starts anyways.

"Hey." she says a bit shortly, mostly because she's confused and a little uncertain why Basil asked her to meet out here. "What's up?"

"I need your opinion on something. Follow me." He said, leading her through the car park and to his own personal vehicle. When they got there, he popped the trunk. Sitting central to everything else was what could best be described to non-car folk as a box with a wheel on it.

"What do you think?" Basil asked.

"It's... nice?" she asks, clearly being polite.

"What is it?"

Basil reached out and lifted the object out of the trunk carefully, and placed it on the ground in from of them. The manner in which he did so and well as the 'thunk' sound it made as it bounced a bit on it's own wheels suggested it wasn't exactly light. Basil then unfolded a few bits on the obviously ride able object, and it seemed to make a semblance of sense now, setting in front of the two of them.

"Your question has two potential answers. The more obvious answer is that it's a Honda Motocompo." He replied, then began digging in the trunk again.

"It's a scooter. Well, almost." she says, eyebrows raised in surprise at the thing being turned into a vehicle of some sort.

"Indeed. Your scooter, if you'd like it." Basil was holding a helmet in his left hand when he came free of the trunk, and held it out to Amy. "Well, yours and Vinnie's, but for practical purposes only one of you can ride it, and since he already has a van, this can be for you."

"Okay...?" she asks, stifling a nervous laugh. She's not really sure what she expected, but it certainly wasn't this. And the bike looking kinda goofy didn't help. She feels like she's being put on the spot for some kind of elaborate joke. "Uhm. I don't know. Thanks, I guess. But... I don't know if I really need one? I mean... I can fly?" she adds out of sheer awkwardness. That's not really a decent point, considering that she wouldn't really feel comfortable using her powers to get around, but she's struggling to come up with something to say that she thinks wouldn't hurt Basil's feelings.

"Oh. Shit.

I forgot about that?" Basil offered, laughing back and marking the first time he had casually sworn in front of her.

"I suppose I was trying to think of a way to thank you for coming to our aid, and I didn't need this anymore so I thought you might. It's an oddball, like that van, so I thought perhaps Vinnie also might appreciate playing with it."

"Well, I mean, it fits into a trunk pretty well." she says. This was only getting worse and worse.

"But you don't have to thank me, I was just trying to help. Not even sure if I did. You don't, like, owe me anything. I appreciate the thought though!"

"Of course." Basil tucked the helmet under his arm, getting the impression she was appreciative, but not overly impressed, and he didn't really want to force her to take it.

"On the topic of helping others, intention, generally speaking means more than actual success, so I wouldn't worry about that too much. We're all alive, so mission accomplished."

Basil struggled for something that wasn't the incident to talk about. He'd tried to banish it from his mind.

"Ah. So, going to the big dance with anyone in particular?"

"Big dance? Oh, you mean the Halloween party?"

"Indeed. Going with anyone? "

"I'm not really sure if I'm going at all. Haven't really thought about a costume for starters."

"Oh! I could help you." Basil replied cheerfully. "I am done with mine already anyways. It'd be extremely last minute obviously, but I am good at this."

"What? Last time I saw you, you stormed out of my dorm. And now you want to go costume shopping with me?"

"Actually, the last time you saw me I was on my way to the infirmary." Basil reminded her.

"And yea, why not? You know another lad who was in drama since primary offering to help you with your last minute costuming and props?" He countered.

"Come now Amy, everyone should be able to have fun. Fancy dress parties are fun. Drinking is fun. Dancing, drunken or otherwise, is fun. Even standing on the sidelines and judging other people is fun to some people, but you'll still need a costume to get in to do so if that's your bag."

If they were still in Washington state right now, Amy might have a credible reason to suspect Basil had recently engaged in a state legalized, federally frowned upon substance, considering how pleasant he seemed. He was more so pleasant than the day she met him even.

"Are you... hitting on me? Is this British for flirting?" she decides to just straight up ask, though her expression is kind of dubious.

"Bloody hell, no!" Basil blurted out. "I mean- you're not unattractive, please don't take it like that, but one thing I am certain of at this point given our track record is that we'd likely murder each other in a romantic situation, not to mention what your roommate might do to me if she thought I was stepping out on her before I even got the chance to take her out in the first place."

Basil wasn't, mainly because he had no genuine want of Amy's affections, so her finding him abhorrent didn't particularly phase him. Buuuuttttt.....

"Just for clarification though, this distaste isn't because of the invisibility is it?"

"What? No. You're just kind of an ass sometimes." she blurts out before she can think better of being brutally honest.

"Yes. I am aware of that being a problem for you." He didn't sound irritated in the slightest. More matter of fact.

"Soooo... Is that a no on the assistance? "

"Alllllllright then. If you wanna sit in your dorm while everyone else has a smashing good time, I can't force you to have fun." Basil sounded a bit like he was teasing her now.

"Believe it or not, even without your help I might be able to tackle the daunting task of assembling a costume and show up to a party." she teases back.

"Okkkaay. But it won't be as brilliant as mine. Mine is going to be the best." He replied with a sort of good natured but challenging tone.

"You could be a magician from a fantasy novel, or a super hero." He added. "Or anything that could potentially fly." These sounded like legitimate suggestions.

"imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?" He asked, sounding confused but also a little amused.
