"You and your ducks." He replied, sounding amused.

"Alright, but I'm not engaging in this silliness alone. Someone better put rings on waterfowl with me or I might cry from the ostracization,"

"What is ze phrase? I am game? I have never been to a carnival before, I want to try everyzing zat I can."

"You've never been to a carnival!?"

Colette shook her head. "No, never. I was homeschooled." She stated as if that was a sufficient reason.

"What? Surely not all day every day."

"Well, no but..." Colette trailed off for a moment. "People were not as... open-minded when I was a young girl as zey must have been in your time."

"Oh. Right. My bad... So word about Future-Girl already spreading, huh?" she chuckles.

"Oh, I witnessed ze... event. When we were sending my ozer self home." Also some may have confused Colette for the newcomer. Or vice versa.

"I miss mon petit ami de gelée." Basil lamented.

"You do know that I could do that too, right?" Colette asked her boyfriend in French.

"No, that's weird. Don't ever." He replied in the same language.

"Uh huh, uh huh." Robin nods along to the French, clearly not understanding it. "Baguette baguette croissant, hon hon?"

"Yeah... not a word either," Chase agreed before smirking, "Probably for the best anyway."

"Yes." Basil confirmed.

Ducks?" He asked.

"Ducks!" Colette confirmed. She could try her hand at shooting, but she'd seen Chase do it, experiencing it through osmosis.

The gang wandered over to the Hook-A-Duck and Basil did his best, but depth perception seemed to fail him. Repeatedly.

There were a lot of choice words muttered under his breath through his attempts, some of which may have been new even for Colette.

For her part, Colette didn't fare much better. It was a case of things looking much easier than they actually were. But still, she was having a good time.

Chase, perhaps aggravatingly, had no trouble at all. Competing against his powers really wasn't fair.

Robin, for her part, was failing horribly, but didn't seem too bothered, since it mostly came down to her clumsy Snorlax hands.

"You better be careful or they'll kick you out for cleaning out all the games." she chuckles.

"What exactly are you going to do with all this fair tat Chase?"

Colette eventually managed to snag a suck, because it was a baby game for babies and even her noodle arms weren't that bad. When it came time to choose a prize she was a bit torn, because most of them were things like rainbow-coloured dolphins, monkeys, and rastafarian bananas. Instead of going for a plush animal she instead opted for a more goo-friendly option, a giant inflatable strawberry lollipop. You know, because that's what every girl needs.

Unfortunately, instead of being given the pre-inflated one the person manning the booth handed her an uninflated one in the package. And Colette, lacking lungs, found it extremely difficult to try to inflate.

"Basil, please inflate this." She was still getting the hang of her role in their relationship, but at least it was a little more to-the-point than her earlier attempts.

Chase gave his new light-up toy sword a test swing.

"Fight the Empire I guess."

"As if that wasn't on the agenda before a carnie handed you a lightsaber that 'fell off the truck'." Basil joked.

He took what he was handed immediately and did as requested. His lungs were still pretty healthy, considering the smoking habit hadn't really set in the rough effects yet, and he was done quickly.

He held it out for her to take back.

Colette took back her inflatable toy and lightly bapped her boyfriend on the head with it almost immediately.

"Perfect."

"This game is clearly rigged." Robin laughs.

The inflatable made the stereotypical hollow 'bonk' noise such an object tended to make when it struck something.

Basil's tone was unamused. "... What a lovely choice you made." He replied, going back to his game.

At last, he snagged a duck, and was handed a ticket to be turned in at another booth, and a plastic light up sword of his very own.

Which he promptly handed to the Snorlax. "Here, defend my honour."

"Hey... I thought I was your staunch defender," he said with mock hurt feelings.

"I'm being assaulted with an inflatable lolli and you aren't doing a damn thing about it." Basil observed.

"Time to enlist new help."

Colette couldn't suppress a giggle, Basil's reaction was exactly what she had hoped it would be.

"I have assessed the situation as a highly trained combatant and X-Men and using advanced future knowledge I have decided that she's not a significant risk." Robin nods and taps Basil on the head with the trademark-infringing toy.

'Chase, halp. " Basil responded to the second 'assault '.

"Uh... En garde you cotton filled fiend?" Chase said halfheartedly as he leveled his glowing plastic tube at Robin.

"Fiend!?" Robin mock-gasps and waggles her saber at Chase, although her stubby arms aren't really fit for this and she quickly opts for hopping forward and just bumping into Chase.

Such an unexpected attack might trip up anyone who wasn't a superhumanly coordinated ninja, but Chase merely teetered on his feet before stabilizing his footing and bopping the Snorlax on the head with his sword.

"Yer dead," he smirked.

"Snorlax, use Rest!" Robin announces and then just falls forward, threatening to topple on top of Chase.

Chase decided to pretend she had the weight of an actual creature that size and let himself be pinned.

"Alas, I too am slain."

Colette nodded her head in satisfaction.

"At least we save it for when we're no longer in public."

Basil leant into Colette and murmured to her quietly.

"Come now Madame, he's having fun. Let him have fun."

Robin rolls over and gathers enough momentum to pop back up on her feet.

"Yo! Are you trying to be rude? At least save it till it's actually behind our backs."
