Issue 1 - Bank Heist! (Team 1)

Though many students might prefer going to London, Maldon provides closer amenities for those without a car or unwilling to pay for a cab. Several pubs are available, though the Rose and Crown is notable for having been where Excalibur spent a good deal of their downtime. Also of note is the Plume Library, home to many rare books.

Issue 1 - Bank Heist! (Team 1)

Postby Narrator » Sun Jun 14, 2015 10:44 pm

The transport van with the X-Team on board pulls up in front of the bank. Two police cars are pulled up already and a handful of police officers stand around a bit aimlessly. Probably because of the cloud of black smoke hanging over the front of the building. When the police sees the X-Men stepping out of the van one of them approaches nervously. "Thank god you guys are here. We tried to go in, but before we knew what was happening everything went dark. A couple of us made it out but we're missing two people who are still in there."

Tosh eyed the smoke suspiciously.

"Anything you can tell us that might help us in rescuing them?" he asked, trying to hide how nervous he was.

Tereza's eyes glowed white and her hands steamed in the warmer air of the outside. "Depending on what that smoke is, if it has liquid in it, I can try to freeze it, get it to condense," she said to Carlos.

Carlos nodded. "That's a good idea, Tereza. if we can't pinpoint their exact locations, we need to get rid of the obscuring mists.

That is, unless Sam can tell us precisely where everyone is?" he said looking at her.

There's some moisture inside the cloud but nothing seems to get trapped in the freezing water. Whatever it is, it doesn't seem to have much (if any) substance.

Sam would be able to sense a couple minds inside. One bigger concentration further inside, which are probably several people and a single one close to the doors, probably just inside.

The police officers around them take a couple steps back when Tosh suddenly grows into a huge bipedal shark in front of them.

The smoke doesn't really smell like anything at all as far as he can tell. While he's sniffing a small tendril of smoke suddenly shoots out and hits Tosh. It doesn't have a physical impact but it feels vaguely cold as it washes over him. Everything goes dark as it envelops him, but everybody else can see that the remainder of the cloud grows thinner, revealing the shape of someone standing in the open doors of the bank, smoke billowing out from them, arms pointed towards Tosh as he clearly controls whatever it is.

The figure looks confused for a moment, shaking his head and stifling a yawn as he tries to focus his attention on the approaching Carlos. He shouts a warning back into the bank that gets swallowed up by Trev's much louder yell, making him stumble right into Carlos' fist. He doesn't go down right away though, trying to pull himself together and gathering the cloud of darkness around himself as he reels back.

Carlos' kick hits nothing but air as it slices into the cloud of darkness into which the men disappeared. It's only about 10 feet wide so he can't have gone that far. Trev's scream pierces through the cloud but it's impossible to tell whether he hit anything. Sam can still feel the presence of the man's mind inside very alert and possibly in pain.

Tosh stomps past Carlos and into the cloud of darkness, just as Tereza begins dropping it's temperature. He's a little bit insulated by his physique but it still slows him down a little. He can smell the man and gets the impression he's slowly backing up, but he too is being chilled.

While that is going on a young man in a punk get-up and a blonde girl run up from inside the bank. "Who the hell are those clowns?" the punk yells, pointing at Carlos who would suddenly find the ground underneath him extremely slippery as if it was providing no traction at all anymore.

Carlos manages to push himself off of one of the front doors that are standing open, managing to slide over to a section of the ground that actually provides some friction.

Tosh's blast isn't entirely on target but it seems to be close enough, the cloud he's in dissipating in a large bust of electricity that knocks the person who'd been controlling the cloud away and into the wall.

The blonde girl looks extremely angry at Tosh electrocuting her accomplice and claps her hands. The air in front of her shimmers and the ice-shards seem to disappear into thin air. She claps her hands again and the shards re-appear next to Tosh, having lost none of their momentum and slicing into his thick skin as they pelt him.

"Try me!" the blonde snarls at Tosh. She claps her hands with significant effort while accumulating ice slows her down. It takes a lot of effort but she manages to throw herself forward and into a hole in mid-air, disappearing. A second later a crash from one of the offices on the side gives away the fact that she presumably reappeared there.

The punk charges at Tosh himself in what initially seems like a suicidal move but the guy Tosh blasted into the wall manages to raise his arm and point it at Tosh, once again plunging him into darkness while the ground beneath one of Tosh's feet grows slippery just before the punk tackles Tosh's unstable leg, knocking him down to the ground.
