Issue 1 - Disturbance at the Docks (Team 2)

The van pulls up into the open area between the warehouses. Somewhere around here the disturbance that people called in must have originated from. An expensive-looking car is parked in front of one of the warehouses which seems to be missing glass in some of it's windows and one of the walls looks like someone drove something into it from the inside, denting it outward.

As soon as she was out of the van, Michaela shifted and, without waiting for orders, one of her heads started sniffing at the ground, slowly making her way towards the car while the other two heads kept a lookout.

Haley got out of the van and looked around. "What the hell did that to the wall? Something trying to get out, or just making a big mess inside?"

Michaela can smell the trail of several people who headed towards the warehouse some time ago.

Suddenly there's a loud bang and another, much smaller dent appears in one of the walls, followed by the faint sound of laughter from inside the warehouse.

"....the hell?" Haley reached out to see if she could feel a mind attached to the laughter with her telepathy. She wasn't very good at this, but it couldn't be all that different from her TK could it?

Haley can sense something inside the warehouse but, not being used to it can't really discern enough to make out how many people there are. It's definitely more than two or three.

"Several people," Michaela says as she sniffs around the car, "All went towards the warehouse by the smell of it."

"We are not a team, Sphinx," Onyx says bluntly. "We do not know the first thing about each other. We do not know each others abilities or weaknesses. We do not know how far we can trust one another or where our limits are. We have not trained together."

Nash doesn't look pleased with Onyx's comments, he looks as if he was about to say something but chooses not to, for now at least.

Onyx lecture is interrupted by the stripepd down frame of a car smashing through the wall of one of the warehouses, the loud crash almost covering up the cheering coming from inside.

Onyx turns her back on the rest of the team and heads towards the warehouse, doing her best to stay out of sight of anyone that might be in the warehouse.

Haley rolled her eyes at Onyx and grumbled something unintelligible before she was startled by the car blasting through a wall. Her head whipped towards the sound and she threw her hands forward ready to hold the car in place if it tried to move.

That certainly seemed to tip off whoever was inside. The laughter stops and a couple moments later two very blue-collar looking men carefully climb through the hole in the wall. When they see Onyx almost right next to them and the other X-Men a little further off they shout a warning and, perhaps to everybody's surprise, take up a fighting pose.

Onyx frowns, when she is spotted. She stops and takes a neutral pose towards the workers, "Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Onyx. I am with the X-Men. We have been sent out to investigate disturbances in the area. We do not wish to fight you if it can be avoided. Please talk to us. Tell us what is happening."

"I got your disturbance right here!"

"Yeah, we don't need you snoopin' around 'ere!"

The first man grabs the edge of the hole and, as he's walking towards Onyx, tears some of the metal wall away with his bare hand. The second one looks like he briefly flickers and suddenly bursts forward incredibly fast, knocking Nailah into the wall before she has a chance to react.

Meanwhile Nash slips around the corner of the building. There is indeed another door here, a little further down.

"Sphinx!" Onyx turns towards the man going after Nailah. She reaches into her belt and pulls out a small orb that emits blinding smoke. She throws it in his direction.

Michaela bounded over, trying to get her jaws clamped down on the metal the guy was holding so he couldn't swing it around.

Michaela bites down on the metal and suddenly finds herself in a tug-of-war with the man who seems much stronger than he looks. He's doing pretty well considering he's up against a three-headed monster-dog, slowly dragging Michaela towards him as he tries to jerk the chunk of metal free.

The man who knocked out Nailah turns towards Onyx as she yells. He starts to flicker again but then the blinding smoke explodes in his face and seems to distract him.

Satisfied the car wasn't moving anywhere, Haley turned her attention to the thug playing tug of war with Michaela, narrowed her eyes and punched the air in front of her to help her aim a TK punch at the guy's kidney

Michaela tugs and wrenches at the metal like any dog would. And like any dog, just as the tension between them gets high, all three mouths let go simultaneously.

Onyx' punch connects and sends the guy stumbling backwards into the wall. He stops briefly, flickers again and blindly charges in Onyx'' general direction. He smashes into her with incredible speed, knocking her to the ground.

The other guy yanks on the metal just as Michaela lets go and Haley's telekinesis slams into his stomach. He's knocked back, arms whirling, but he manages to stay upright somehow. He brings the piece of metal about to slam into Michaela.

Nash finds the other side of the door mostly empty. If there's anything beyond it it's outside the range of his power.

Nash goes to the door and opens it, even if he has to pick the lock. He then takes a look inside.

Michaela grunts and takes a nasty whack from the blow, but one head turns and a short gout of flame erupts from it's mouth. It doesn't target the guy though, it targets the metal in his hand, trying to make it too hot to handle.

Between Michaela breathing fire on the metal and Haley slamming it with her telekinesis it rips apart and the man throws the remaining chunk at Haley before throwing himself at Michaela, getting at least one of the heads into a headlock while he tries to wrestle her to the ground.

It might hurt to take a hit like that, but Onyx grits her teeth and pushes off the ground immediately after she hits. She tries to aim a kick to the guys knee before he can flicker away.

While he has one head in a headlock, the other two heads make a grab for his legs, intending to pull him off his feet as she plants her own feet to struggle against him.

Michaela manages to yank the man's leg out from under him and he goes down. He takes her with him though, his grip on her head not relenting as he rolls himself on top of the giant dog, pinning it with his weight and super-human strength.

Onyx manages to land the kick just as the man begins to flicker again. His knee gives out, which seems to interrupt him enough that he doesn't zip off, instead stumbling backwards and catching himself against the wall of the warehouse. He grits his death and once again begins to flicker. This time he's fast enough and a split-second later he's all the way over where Haley is, having punched the blonde girl's stomach.

The door isn't actually locked and Nash finds himself in what seems to be some kind of small office. There's a big window on the wall opposite the door that let's him see into the warehouse proper. He can see two people, one in what looks like a business suit of some kind, carrying a silver briefcase and another, scrawny-looking dock-worker who seems to be pestering him while the suit seems eager to leave.

One of Michaela's heads twists around with an evil grin on it's face as it opens it's mouth to breath on the man. What comes out is a blast of hot air and some flame and it's not at all threatening. But it smells like hot, giant dog breath, so there's that.

Nash enters the office and finds a place at least somewhat out of sight. For now he just watches the two trying to figure out what is going on.

The man twists his head away from the dog-breath but chuckles when all that comes out is hot air. He gives the head he's holding on to a wrench to try and wrestle Michaela into submission.

Nash has no problem hiding, the two people apparently distracted. He can vaguely make out what's being said. "It didn't work for me! Come on, you promised it would!" the scrawny-looking man says while the suit just kind of shrugs him off. "A high chance is no guarantee. Sorry buddy."
