"Why's that man shouting at us? Am I not using it right?"

"I think he doesn't enjoy people having fun," Will slurred.

"Pffff!" Shari says to that. Two beers alone weren't going to make anybody drunk, but previous to that she'd mixed together some weird painkiller-weed that's rapidly catching up with her.

"Could be having more fun if I had the multi-balls." she says, growing an additional pair of eyes, then another until she has three of them on each side of her face, leaning over the pinball machine to better track the ball.

"Then hit it better! Up there. No, not THERE, there! C'mon, use that weird alien reflexology!" Will said, shouting words of unhelpful encouragement.


They were creating quite the scene.

"I'm trying! That's not how reflexitivity works!" she shouts, sprouting two more arms to grip the side of the machine and trying to shake it a little while flippering.

"Alright, that's MORE than enough out of you two. Out. Now," the bartender said in a gruff voice, pointing towards the door.

Shari reflexively turns her head towards the gruff voice, which results in her losing her third and final ball.

"Nooo! I haven't gotten to the multiball yet! You're being very rude right now." she says, putting all four of her fists on her hips.

"And you two are being drunk and belligerent. And we don't want your kind around here. So out. Now.."

"But... issa a bar! Why'd you sell the alcohol if you don't want drunk people here?"

"Being drunk, and especially being drunk and disorderly is a crime. Being drunk and disorderly and a freak is even moreso. I'ma gonna give you to the count of three."


If it was a crime, it did not appear to be one that was thoroughly enforced by this establishment.

"How rude! My friend is not a freak!" objects the girl with six eyes and four arms.

"One. TWO..." he counted, menacingly.

Can you count menacingly?

"I'm not going nowhere till you apologize to my friend!" she says defiantly.

"Three," he said, taking an (apparently!) unexpected swing at Shari!

Shari did, in fact, not expect to be attacked. Unfortunately for the barkeeper, she's an alien from a race of warriors and whether she likes it or not, is trained to fight. So she instinctively grabs the man's arm with all four of her hands, arms swelling with muscles as she throws him up and overhead, sending him crashing into a table behind her. She looks absolutely mortified.

"Oops."

"Get 'em!"

And that's when a number of the bar's patrons started swarming towards Shari and Will.

Shari shrugs and runs at the ones closest to her. She's got some frustrations to work out and not just from the pinball machine refusing to cooperate. Natalie thinks her ways of helping are dumb, Conduit thought she should be some kind of evil green monster, these people think she's a freak. Enough's enough and she's done letting everyone and everything look down on her. Violence still might not be her first choice, but she's just defending herself, right? If grabbing a chair and swinging it at a man can be called that.

The best self-defense is a self-offense! Shatter that chair over that dude's back, Shari; that's the way!

Seeing people attacking his roommate, Will joined in, stretching out his hands and clocking a dude, right in the facemeats.

For some reason, this seemed to just make the patrons angrier, as they kept coming forward.

Someone pulled out their cell phone to call the constabulary.

Shari does pretty well, but they are massively outnumbered and she takes plenty of hits herself, including a couple thrown bottles hitting her and a pool cue getting broken over her head while she wrestles people to the ground and throws two, three, four-armed punches as she's getting mobbed.

The punching goes on for a bit, and then the police arrive to ruin everyone's fun.

It takes quite a bit of time to sort everything out, and citations for being drunk, belligerent, and drunk and belligerent are handed out like candy.

When it comes to Shari and Will, however, there's a bit of a sticky wicket.

As an alien from outer space who illegally entered the country in a different form, Shari didn't have any legal form of identification.

As a meteroid recovered by the US Military and legally sold to the university, Will didn't have any identification whatsoever.

Which is why the of them found themselves in a drunk tank cell in the Maldon Police HQ. A less than ideal night out.

Shari groans, looking out the little window in the door by having grown eye-stalks that poke through it.

"Tell me again why we can't just... ya know... go?" she asks, one eye-stalk bending backwards to look at Will.

"I mean, they're going to have a pretty good idea where we live, yeah? Then we'll be in even MORE trouble," Will groaned, as he shook his head to try to clear it.

"I mean... they know where Shari lives, but they dunno where Miss Agathe Power, Esquire lives." she says, shifting into an older woman with a vaguely haughty look.

It had taken Natalie a bit to figure out how to drive the car in the unfamiliar body. She pulls up in front of the police station, taking a moment in the car to make sure that the voice she's using is Ashlie's. Then she gets out, picking up the documentation Ashlie pulled together and walking into the police station.

"Yeah, but you looked like you coming in. They'd put two and two together."

The police station wasn't very busy, which you would think would mean Natalie would be seen right away, though the man at the front desk seemed in no hurry to get to her.

Natalie stands at the front desk for a moment before she clears her throat. "I was told there was a situation I needed to come clear up?"

"And they'd go right to the university and find us?"

"Hrm? Oh, you're from the university. Yeah, we got...well, we got a situation with what appears to be two of your kind."

"I see," she says, her tone humorless. "Perhaps you could clarify what you mean by 'situation' and 'my kind'?"

"A couple of your students were arrested. They were involved in a fight, with alcohol involved. When we went in to break it up, we found that neither of them had any sort of official ID on them.

One of them is some sort of...I don't know. I guess they're both just mutants. Both of them claim they go to your school, and one of them claims to be...property of some sort? Definitely drunk and disorderly.

Like I said, a situation."

"I see," she says, "Perhaps I could speak with these students? From there, I should be able to verify their enrollment status and get this sorted out."

"Well duh. We'd have to lay low for a while."

"Right. Follow me," he said, leading ASHNat to a cell, where a couple of shapeshifters were bickering.

"You mean ditch the uni? That's crazy talk."

"Indeed, it would be," 'Ashlie' says, "Will... and..." She looks at the older woman sitting in the cell with Will.

"Ash...lie?" the woman awkwardly asks as she shifts back into her 'normal' shape of a middle-eastern young adult. The robot sounded like Ashlie again, maybe while she was getting drunk and arrested they'd figured out how to fix what happened?

"Good evening, headmistress," Will said, a hint of steel in his voice.

"... and Shari," she says after the woman shifts back. She turns to the police officer, "I can confirm their enrollment. I have their documentation right here." She begins rifling through the documentation.
