After the kebab had been consumed, Wanda packed up her small bag of stuff. Kara saw them to the door. Wanda gave her a hug, "I appreciate you letting me crash here. Let me know if you need something."

"I will," Kara says. Then she fixes Isolde with a look, "The two of you take care of each other, okay?"

"...that's the job, yes." She says without any hint of sarcasm.

Kara just smiles at them and then closes the door as they walk down the hall.

Wanda loops her arm in Isolde's. "So where should we go now?"

"I'll be honest. I... hadn't really thought this through beyond dropping off food."

"And it was a good gesture. Ideally, to get away, we'd go to London, but it's a bit late for that and I gather that that's not really your scene."

"Oh, there are plenty of places to get lost in London."

"How lost do you want to get?"

"Let's get a drink then and find a place to crash. I know a couple of nice places here in Maldon."

After a couple of drinks in the hotel bar at the Swan, Wanda had acquired them a room and comfortably fallen asleep. In the middle of the night though, she started to thrash a bit.

Isolde snaps to alertness, eyes yellow as she looks about.

"...Wanda?" She asks with concern.

Wanda's eyes blink open and she clutches at her chest in a brief panic. Then it seems to register where she is and she stills, though she's still breathing hard. "Sorry... bad dream."

"Want to... talk about it?"

It seems like an unfamiliar concept to her.

Wanda rolls over to look at Isolde, the beginnings of tears in her eyes just for a moment. "Just a lot of darkness... and pain. A lot of pain. Now... something feels missing."

"You're here with me. You're safe."

Wanda nods, reaching out to put a hand on Isolde's shoulder as if to make sure she's solid. "I hate nightmares. Especially vague ones."

"Could be nothing. Could be everything. Dreams aren't always just dreams for you."

Wanda looks down, but at nothing in particular as she tries to sort through the mental impressions from the nightmare. "It was... cold. Windy. Wet. For some reason, I felt safe... or knew I should feel safe?"

"...so what's missing?" She cocks her head.

"And what hurt?"

"I don't know. There's just this sense of... loss. And everything hurt. Legs, then arms, then chest. It was like what I imagine being torn apart would be like."

"I hope not either. Hopefully it was just a nightmare and not a vision." She snuggles closer to Isolde.
