X-Men: Fight the Future

Though many students might prefer going to London, Maldon provides closer amenities for those without a car or unwilling to pay for a cab. Several pubs are available, though the Rose and Crown is notable for having been where Excalibur spent a good deal of their downtime. Also of note is the Plume Library, home to many rare books.

The elevator cable stops slamming Aiden around and dangles him sheepishly in the air for a moment before setting him down. And after a brief moment of testing if she can get away with it decides she does not feel up to challenging (a) Sam to ratchet up the guilt and the elevator tube makes a bulging motion with the sound of glass groaning and spits out a blob that lands on the ground, which in turn spits out a tiny social media engine.

Aiden laid there for a moment willing the world to stop spinning. The Praetorian groaned softly as he stood up somehow not covered in dust and debris, but limned with golden light.

"Far worse than tanks," Aiden grumbled as he covered his need to recover more by assessing the situation.

"Got it!" Cal shouted, sending out a pulse from a hastily-cobbled together collection of future tech.

"Man, I'm keeping this stuff when we go home."

The crowd stopped where they were, blinking and shaking their heads as they tried to come to grip with what had just happened.

"Hey! I'm not getting a signal! What gives?"

"Big oof..." Robin mumbles as she pulls herself back together from a splotch on the floor, rubbing her head.

"Okay so... do we want to just smash this thing?"

Artemis let out a soft sigh of relief, complete with little gust emoji on her screen. The firepower was quickly put away; no sense in scaring these poor confused people.

"I think we should check in with the other teams. If we have time I'd like to look into not-smashing options."

"I might as well take a look," John said. He retracted all of his darkforce and approached the device for a better look.

John would easily find controls on the outside of the device. It wouldn't take an engineering genius to figure out how to shut it off, but it sure would help.

"Provided that the obvious off switch isn't a trap," Aiden muttered as he powered down.

"Naturally. Though certainly no riskier than smashing it."

John looked to everyone and back at the device. "Here goes nothing," he said before turning it off, smashy stick at the ready just in case.

After John did his thing Artemis knelt beside the device and began scanning it. She wasn't going to directly interface, that would have to wait until they got it back to "base" to study it further. All of this talk of smashing made her feel like she should get whatever info she could now rather than later.
