Mon Sept 8th - Shady Deals

The scene of the supposed drug deal is an old abandoned farmhouse outside of town. There's an open courtyard that is flanked by an old barn and the actual house. A quick sweep of the area doesn't reveal anything. Nobody is here though there's some old graffiti here and there but not as much garbage and old beer bottles as one might expect. There are tire tracks in the courtyard so it looks like the place has recently been used, probably for a similar transaction.

"I'm just not sure what he stands to gain out of this. I'd say he was just wanting to make 'mutants' look bad, but I can't understand what he hopes to gain by peddling to humans."

While the others argue about how much pummeling is appropriate, Sam is shifted and in appropriate clothing, making her way to the rendezvous point.

Sam doesn't have to wait long until a van pulls in and parks next to the barn. Char, Skid and Grue climb out and, spotting Sam, immediately head over to her.

"Good, you're here. Thanks for making us lug a bunch of money around, by the way. That would have in no way been saver with you." Char grumbles at her.

While they are bickering a person steps out of the main building. He takes a couple steps until he reaches the cone of the headlight's of the car Grue and company arrived in. It's the man from the protests, carrying yet another fancy silver briefcase. "Good evening." he says, announcing his presence. He seems nervous, but that could just be the fact that he's involved in a drug trade with potentially violent criminals. "I understand you were interested in purchasing 4 more doses of our product?" he asks, holding up the briefcase.

None of the people present seem to notice anything amiss. If Sam is keeping her telepathic senses peeled she might notice that the man doesn't seem to exhibit any telepathic ability at the moment. The deal goes off without any real hitch. The man opens up the briefcase for the group to take a look, Char tosses him a small backpack of money and Grue takes the briefcase.

"Pleasure doing business with you." the man almost sneers and then walks back towards the main entrance of the house while Char glowers at him.

"You want to take the stuff?" Grue asks Sam but before she has a chance to answer Char has already grabbed the suitcase from his hands.

"Don't worry, I got it." she says and heads for their van. Grue sighs and rolls his eyes a little with an almost apologetic look at Sam.

"Nobody saw us leave in the damn thing anyway, but suit yourself." Char shakes her head and climbs into the passenger seat. A moment later the van peels out and drives off.

Sam herself sets off in a different direction that won't lead back to the team, casting her mind out to see if anyone is watching her other than the team.

She can sense the dealer's mind still relatively close by. It doesn't feel like he actually left the farm building. As she's casting her mind out she notices a strange 'dull' feeling area and then the next moment the dealer's mind seems to just disappear.

Tereza hops out of the driver's seat and takes off after Carlos, spreading out a little bit to at least make someone pick targets if they've got someone watching.

Tosh jumped out less gracefully and ran after the others. He turned into Bruce mid-run and was suddenly much faster. Also: way harder to overlook.

If anybody is watching there's no indication of it. Of course, with Tosh shifting, if anybody does have an eye on the area somehow now they definitely know something is up.

They make it into the farmhouse and at first glance it just looks abandoned. A closer look reveals that there's very little garbage around and almost no graffiti or empty beer bottles, which is something you would almost expect from a place like this. Making their way towards where Sam felt the dealer vanish they just end up in the old kitchen, but a quick search reveals the trapdoor in the floorboards that seems to lead into an old storage cellar. The cellar itself is musty and full of cobwebs, about what to expect, except for the very new and out-of-place metal door that's set into the far wall. It's too dark to see many details but a slowly blinking red LED on a key-pad illuminates the door in regular intervals.

"Great, and us without our flashlights," she says, looking down into the dark cellar. "Same, we may need your brainy side for this." She tried to sense for the telltale temperature anomalies that might indicate recently-used incandescent lights in the cellar. Her eyes glowed white as she said, "Trying to get a sense of whether there might have been lights in the cellar."

It doesn't feel like there are. But depending on how fine a difference she can sense she might feel a slightly warmer corridor of air where someone walked to the door not too long ago.

Tosh began examining the key-pad. "Yeah, light would certainly help."

"And I really need to get on that unstable molecule utility belt."

It appears to be a relatively standard key-pad. It's fastened to the doorframe pretty securely but possibly not in relation to a giant shark monster.
