Carter's Traveling Steam Funfair

[Basil Benson]

"You'll have to excuse Madame. She gets jealous when cute girls throw themselves on someone not herself." He replied, hoping to smooth things over.

[Colette Rosenhof]

Colette's response was to lightly bap Basil's dome again with her lollipop and feign being upset.

[Robin Stanton]

"How dumb do you think I am?" says the giant Snorlax and turns around to offer Chase a hand to help him up.

[Basil Benson]

"I don't know you well enough to make that judgment call. I presume all people are as least as smart as I am, and that the majority are more so."

Basil's tone was completely genuine, and somewhat small and quiet now. His body language suggested he thought he was being admonished, the lanky boy shrinking as much as someone over six feet was capable and after a moment, disappearing entirely so that the only thing left was the void of his presence.

"I apologize." His disembodied voice added.

[Chase Delacroix]

Chase grabbed the offered hand and pulled himself up with a nod of thanks.

"I freely admit you're smarter than me Basil."

[Robin Stanton]

"S'fine." Robin says, waving it off with one stubby arm. The invisible boy is hard to read, but him shrinking away is obvious enough.

"So. Who's up for trying some rides?"

[Colette Rosenhof]

From outside appearances, Colette was doing a good job of hugging the body of and stroking the hair of a ghost boyfriend.

"I apologize, I was just having a little fun at your expense. I had commented zat you had to be careful or else you would get ze fur of your new toy dirty."

Colette, that is a lie. You're a liar. And she hugged Basil all that much harder. "I would very much enjoy some rides!"

Basil is hugged.

Basil also remains quiet on the subject because only he knew Colette bold face lied to that girl, and since he'd already been the one to take the brunt when he had enacted the lesser offense of sugarcoating a truth pill, he wasn't about to reopen that box again.

This also meant he said nothing back to Chase's admission, nor the idea of rides, but Colette knew he was still there because she could feel him.

Literally. She just appeared to be holding nothing.

[Colette Rosenhof]

"I very much would enjoy riding ze carousel. I have never been on one before. Zey do not go TOO fast, do zey?" Colette asked her invisible lover, though the question was open-ended.

[Basil Benson]

"Hmm?" Basil replied. Just being addressed by Colette was usually enough to bring him out of his headspace.

"No, not really. But is that what everyone else wants to do?" He asked the group, not really certain if the carousel was going to be as exciting for everyone else as Colette was thinking it was going to be.

[Chase Delacroix]

"I'd rather ride the Chair-o-Plane, but I could do both."

[Robin Stanton]

"S'cool, you guys can hit the carousel with all the kiddos." Robin chuckles with just bit of a scoff.

[Colette Rosenhof]

"Ooh, what is a Chair-aeroplane?" Colette didn't seem to be able to put it together quite right phonetically.

[Basil Benson]

"Its the one that looks a bit like a top with seats on chains. It swings people in a circle through mid air." Explained the obvious group nerd.

[Colette Rosenhof]

Colette looked a little shocked. "Zat sounds very thrilling! And ziz is safe to do?"

[Chase Delacroix]

"Safe by old-timey standards at least," Chase supplied.

[Colette Rosenhof]

"Well zen, I suppose I can put on my big girl panties and... what is ze phrase, go give it?"

[Basil Benson]

"Give it a go.

Or have a go, in the British parlance. " Basil responded. " Perhaps sit close to me, just in case."

[Colette Rosenhof]

Colette leaned in all the closer. "As if zere was anywhere else I would be, silly."

Ugh, so sappy.

[Robin Stanton]

"Good luck with that on this ride of individual seats, my dudes."

[Chase Delacroix]

"Basil would probably like being inside her," he managed with a straight face.

[Robin Stanton]

Robin snorts out a laugh. "He'd be like an outline in there. Basil-shaped cavity."

[Colette Rosenhof]

Colette raised her nose to such ribbing, but all in good fun. "Perhaps, perhaps. But I believe zat such rides have a minimum height requirement, do zey not? So perhaps we will see you on ze carousel after all."

[Robin Stanton]

"Pff, height requirements are for people who can get hurt."

[Basil Benson]

The barb didn't go over Basil's head, but he said nothing.

"So, the chair-o-plane then?" He clarified, attempting to herd the cats.

[Chase Delacroix]

"Looks like," he answered, beginning to lead the way to the bad pun ride.

[Colette Rosenhof]

And Colette followed willingly, since she was a tough cookie as well.

[Basil Benson]

Basil followed along and true to his word, and let Colette lead their duo.

"You sure about this?" He asked before he queued up, letting her observe the ride herself.

[Colette Rosenhof]

Colette watched the ride whirl around it's passengers, her expression the same as if she had been eight years old and seeing it for the first time.

"Not at all. But it is not as zough I can break my arm now, no?"

[Basil Benson]

Basil had gone over many times in his head the worst that couple happen in multiple scenarios with Colette.

But he refused to lock her in a box for safety like her parents had.

"Alright." He replied, queueing up with his girl, his friend, and the newbie.

True to his word, Basil sat in the seat closest to Colette.

[Colette Rosenhof]

Colette got herself situated and smiled at her boyfriend, wiggling herself into place. This was going to be so exciting! Her form took on that opaque bubblegum look that would be familiar to some by now, her hair becoming something much more short cropped. She wanted to be well-prepared.

[Basil Benson]

Basil kept a close eye on Colette as the ride lifted them from the ground and steadily increased in pace to swing their motley crew through the air. He was ready to 'throw the red flag' at a moment's notice if something went awry.

[Colette Rosenhof]

Colette looked a little uneasy at first, but as the centrifugal force caused them to rise higher into the air she let out a shriek, followed by a lot of giggling. She seemed to be holding herself together pretty well.

[Chase Delacroix]

Chase had seemed bored at first. However, as the speed increased he started to smile and even let out a very uncharacteristic whoop.

[Basil Benson]

Once everything seemed to be fine, a weight seemed to be lifted from Basil's shoulders.

He heard his friend's excited exclamation and laughed out loud at the other boy's antics.

Basil stretched his arms out and his head lolled backwards.

After a moment his friends could see him, looking pleased as could be at the feeling of the wind against him. He occasionally twirled a finger or two against the current, but otherwise seemed entirely contented just to relax and watch the sky above him whirl by.

It was the happiest Chase had ever seen him, though Chase seeing him was a fairly new occurance.
