Laura had dropped off a note for Haley, telling her she was going to take her out for a small celebration for the successful mission. Laura was waiting next to the ride-share, dressed in a modified t-shirt and a knee-length skirt, cleaning her glasses before stowing the cleaning cloth back in her small purse.

Haley, while never especially punctual, was usually never as late as she was right now. And if she was, there were usually a flurry of apologetic texts sent to whomever she was meeting.

There hadn't been any of that. Laura was sitting alone.

Haley had acknowledged the note eagerly earlier too.
