Know The World Is Waiting There For Me

"If you're asking if I care what you do here, what do you think?"

[Ryn]

"We have human permission to do what needs done." she points out, but Ryn wonders what would happen if she pushes her luck on this. Do the human laws she operates under even apply and grant her right to be here or could Sam invoke her banishment? Does her banishment even apply here? She's not used to being uncertain about these things and now that she thinks about it there is the very real possibility that breaking a stupid human law big enough to make someone try to arrest her would strip her of her powers very quickly.

[Samantha McManus]

"The permission you have doesn't extend as far as you think, but that's going to take a bit to explain."

[Leo Eskandari]

"What's to explain?" Leo asked with a shrug. "This isn't even their world. The division of Interpol or whatever group you really work for probably doesn't exist here, because if they did then we'd have run into them by now."

[Ryn]

The word 'jurisdiction' is not exactly in Ryn's vocabulary. She just shows one of her badges to people and they either run (very fun) or let her do as she pleases (also good, possibly still involving chasing someone or something eventually).

"It doesn't matter. We don't need your permission to investigate." she says and by sheer accident manages to actually sound like a government spook.

[Samantha McManus]

"I'm not pulling rank, here. I'm trying to save you some grief."

[Ryn]

"If you seek to keep us from investigating it means you have something to hide. I am not called the Implacable One for nothing."

[Samantha McManus]

"Yes, I'm sure that's great at parties," she sighs.

[Ryn]

"I don't go to many parties." she notes, though it is a little odd that she has, in fact, attended one.

[Leo Eskandari]

"Look," Leo said, a little exasperated, "We aren't tryin' to stop you from lookin' into how junk from our world is gettin' into yours. We just want you to work with us. We're resourceful and, frankly, our technology will boggle your mind. Besides, we have a vested interest in resolvin' the problem. 'Cause clearly the hole you came through goes both ways or you wouldn't be here."

[Ryn]

"Most human-wrought things boggle my mind. Some of them are alright. Like pants. But you talk about permission and I'm telling you they do not matter to me. Neither do god's demesnes but it helps to know who I anger. Humans just understand the badge more."

[Leo Eskandari]

He chuckled. "We have our own deal with the normals, but I guess we don't ask for permission before acting either. So, sorry if you got the impression that we're trying to start a turf war. I was just being what we mortals call... pedantic."

[Samantha McManus]

"Leo, think of what she is and then think of what she's likely to associate resistance with."

[Leo Eskandari]

Leo put his hands up. "Hey, I'm not resistin' anything. I was just..."

He sighed dramatically, chastising himself for making himself look foolish. "Fuck, I dunno. Just ignore everything I said. I clearly have no idea what I'm talkin' about."

[Ryn]

Ryn shrugs. Leo doesn't seem any more foolish to her than any other mortal.

"I tell humans I do as I please. They never understand."

[Samantha McManus]

"Seems like your partner may end up at the university anyway," she says, noticing the direction they seem to be headed in.
