"Kinda? I can think about something I wanna do or get done or have happen and sometimes that'll set it off. I just have no control over how it gets there. I've thought about trying to ask it something crazy like world peace or something but occasionally I've had it give me really nasty headaches and I'm kinda scared to try something huge, you know?"

"Ready to order yet?"

"I do not wish anyone to have to be in Madripoor," Onyx says in a small voice. She stares down at her hands. "That city has taken everything from me, ma'am."

That wasn't the full truth, but it was closer. And the real truth was too terrible for Onyx to admit or even think about.
