[Molly McFly]

"But what if they don't, or they don't understand why it's wrong?"

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"What if they do?" Jez took a little bit of time to sip her coffee once more. "You won't know until you try, do you? Don't worry, I'm sure you can work out a compromise if things go south. You're a big girl. And you can be a bigger girl, so that helps."

[Molly McFly]

"I can't always become a bigger girl," she mumbled into her tea.

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"Well hopefully you won't have to. Or you could ask for some back-up. Maybe you need an unbiased mediator who can see both sides from a neutral vantage point."

[Molly McFly]

"...What the heck are you majoring in, crisis management?"

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"Oh no, I won't be taking that until my second or third year." Jez clarified. "I'm taking political sciences, hoping to become an ambassador someday."

[Molly McFly]

"Well, you're doing a good job. You sound just like one."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"Thank you." Jezabelle took it as a compliment. "Feel any better?"

[Molly McFly]

"Eh. Getting there. Thanks."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"It's my pleasure. I'm glad I could help, even if just by being a distraction."

[Molly McFly]

"Maybe that's just what I needed."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"And maybe a little bit of walnut cake." Jez offered the girl a forkful of hers.

"I know it's a new school and all, and it's a big change and the start of a very busy year, but you've been making time to unwind and have some fun, right? What do you do to unwind and have a bit of fun?"

[Molly McFly]

"Normally, I listen to music and go partying, but that hasn't really been an option."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"Don't worry, parties will be starting soon enough. Once October rolls around everyone will be looking for an excuse to have a costume party."

[Molly McFly]

"Because we're definitely the kind of people who need to put on scary masks."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

Jez gave Molly a look as though she'd been slapped, then one of concern.

"What are you saying? Do I look like a monster or ghoul to you?"

[Molly McFly]

"Well, no, of course not, but you just said you could be, like, multiple people. That's a costume in and of itself."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"A costume is about being something you're not, not something you are."

[Molly McFly]

"I don't follow."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"If you're a nurse, you probably wouldn't dress up as a nurse as a costume, would you? That'd be pretty boring and lame."

[Molly McFly]

"I know people who do that, though they normally would be, like, a vampire nurse or something."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"Well that's their costume, the vampire part. My costume might involve multiple me's, or just myself, you'll have to wait and see. But my point still stands, it's kind of boring to dress up as someone you are every day."

[Molly McFly]

"Eh, if you say so. I'm not so sure I agree."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"Don't worry, I'll wear you down." Jez mocked her own forceful nature,

"What kind of music do you like, Molly?"

[Molly McFly]

"Upbeat stuff. Stuff you can dance to."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"Well then, I'm going to be to be certain to follow you to the next party you go to, because you sound like a lot of fun."

[Molly McFly]

"Because I like dance music?"

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"And parties. Which probably means you like to dance. And any girl who likes to dance knows how to have a good time." Completely and utterly sound logic, that.

[Molly McFly]

"I guess that checks out."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

Jez raised her coffee mug as though she were raising a tumblr of scotch, and gave Molly a nod.

"See? I 'm always right. Once people learn that then everything goes much more quickly and smoothly."

[Molly McFly]

Even Molly had to chuckle at that one. "I'll keep that in mind."

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

Jez just hid her satisfied smirk behind her coffee mug. Molly was smiling and laughing, a major improvement over how she'd been when the two girls met.
