"Fine, we'll settle for 'person going to get her ass kicked'," Tereza smirked as ice ran up her arms, giving her some protection.

The hulking, shaggy beast standing where Isolde was licks its chops, every muscle under its midnight black pelt tensing as it rushes towards Tereza, bulling with a meaty shoulder.

Tereza brings her arms up to block, but the shoulder check is still enough to knock her back. She manages to retaliate with a punch of her own, but it's off-balance and weak.

Shane shifted his club arm for more leverage lunged in to take a swing at the spirit dog or werewolf or whatever it was.

Tereza's punch glances off of the beast, but Shane's blow connects and manages to drive it back a bit, giving Tereza some breathing room.

In its retreat it turns to better face both of them, growling and snapping to keep Shane at a distance.

Tereza gestured to the right as the began to move left, spreading herself out a bit from Shane and trying to force Isolde to put her attention somewhere as she moves in a bit, throwing ice shards at Isolde.

Shane followed Tereza's lead and moved in the opposite direction, turning his other hand into a vine whip before lashing at the creature.

The beast sees the lash coming for it and decides to lunge at Tereza, some of the ice shards lodging in its hide as it tries to bowl the ice-wielder over.

Tereza catches the lunge. It does bowl her over, but she twists at the last minute, so the momentum of the fall carries her out of Isolde's way. As she rolls across the ground, ice forms behind her, coating the ground between her and Isolde.

The beast skids to a stop, turning towards Tereza and taking a moment to shake like a wet dog, several of the ice shards going flying.

Feeling its paw slip as it advances on Tereza, it stomps down hard on the ice, sending a spiderweb of cracks across it and roughening the surface. It takes a raking swing with its claws at Tereza.

Shane attempted to grow and coil his whip around Isolde's legs to trip her up and then pull.

The ice on one of Tereza's arms expanded to absorb the rake from the claws. The claws left deep grooves in the ice.

The beast goes tumbling down as Shane yanks, but then gives a murderous look towards Shane.

"...two ends," it snarls.

Then, heedless of the thorns, it grips the whip and gives a thunderous yank.

Shane was sent soaring towards the beast before he could detach the whip. Desperately, he flailed spiky arms at the oncoming wall of fur.

The ice under Isolde thickens and tries to grab a hold of Isolde's fur as Tereza herself moves in to try to wrap an arm under Isolde's muzzle.

The beast swings a meaty arm to try to swat Shane away, but is caught by surprise by Tereza. It thrashes and snaps, trying to bite down on the ice-wielder's arm.

Tereza tries to reinforce the ice on her arm, but the ice cracks under the bite pressure and Tereza cries out in pain, slamming her free ice-covered fist into the side of Isolde's head.

Shane used the opportunity to grab onto the she-beast with rapidly growing vines like some bizarre vegetable spider cocooning its prey.

Tereza's blow forces the beast to release her arm, but it soon panics as it realizes what Shane is doing. It flexes with surprising strength, starting to tear through the vines.

In the fog, there is an approaching sound of a police siren.

Hearing the siren, Tereza frowns. "Time to go, Shane." She tries to put some distance between herself and Isolde. She's cradling her arm, shards of her ice armor sticking out of the flesh.

Shane swore and broke off from the vines, hoping they'd at least slow the beast down while they retreated.

"What about the police? They sure as bloody hell can't fight this."

The fog gathers thicker than ever. It's hard to see the beast even this close as its outline struggles and starts to tear through the vines.

"Some of us have records and would really rather not deal with the police," she hisses, still eyeing the fading monster as she continues backing away.

That certainly seems to be what the beast has picked, bounding off into the fog. Soon it's out of sight.

"As much as we can," she said, dragging the ice off the street with her, rippling up her body to protect her injured arm. She ducks down a side alley and takes off in an alternate route back towards the school.

The police arrive a short while later, and cordon off the area. With the fog as thick as it is they're not venturing far at the moment, just taking statements, unreliable though they may be, from the bar patrons.

"You forget just how much pressure these feral types can bring to bear. Shoved my armor into my arm. I'll have the infirmary take care of it when we get back. They'll more readily accept a 'got injured running off a troublemaker' explanation than the police will."
