Requiem for an Ace Face

Though many students might prefer going to London, Maldon provides closer amenities for those without a car or unwilling to pay for a cab. Several pubs are available, though the Rose and Crown is notable for having been where Excalibur spent a good deal of their downtime. Also of note is the Plume Library, home to many rare books.

Victor let out a sigh that turned into a gurgle in the back of his throat as he went limp and began to slowly slide lower in his seat and under the table.

"See? Told you not to eat that disgusting burrito." She replied, more than familiar with Victor's frustration reaction, what with having dealt with two goddamn generations of Freuds pull this bullshit in public.

A hand rose up from the other side of the table like some sort of periscope, or a long-necked bird like an emu. It "looked around" for a moment before flipping Emilie off, then grabbed the rest of his taco and taking it out of sight as well.

Emilie seemed to be playing it cool, and let Victor hang under the table for a second.

But just as he became comfortable down there and stopped moving, Emilie up'd his game of public embarrassment.

Victor gradually started to notice her legs squirming around violently, and soon sounds he was familiar with in theory but less so in practice started coming out from above the table. The phrase "Oh Victor!" pretty much told him everything he needed to know about what the hell she was doing above the table, but her hand came down under it to flip him the deuce right back and confirm his suspicions.

The top of Victor's head slowly slid back into view, the boy's blushing face glaring at her.

"Is nawt dat kinda taco." He mumbled with his mouth full as he sat up relatively straight.

Of course people were looking at them now, though most of them realized that it was a very crude joke and glared.

Emilie didn't seem to give a fuck about Victors glares, or theirs.

"If you stay up here in Adultland, it could become one." She grinned

Victor was still flushed as he sat silent for a moment before he leaned forward.

"What would happen if I said yes?"

"Well." Emilie replied, taking on a business like tone.

"Firstly I'd make sure you really understood what you were claiming to be down for.

And secondly I'd tell you yer gonna hafta take me somewhere not Taco Bell for our first date because I ain't that cheap."

"Well I was just thinking I should at least give it a shot. You knowing everything about me aside and how... unusual the whole situation is... an actual date might not be a bad idea? Like thinking of it as a blind date and seeing if anything works?"

The woman sitting across from him was heralded by a dream and appeared from another dimension. She lived countless lifetimes and knew more about him than he knew about himself. She had been affectionate almost from the first moment, bordering on infatuation. It was a little much to thrust on someone all of a sudden; potential girlfriends don't just pop out of thin air and declare their undying love for you, that was like manic pixie dream girl to the nth degree. So it was little wonder it had taken Victor this long to consider maybe holding hands.

"I had one girlfriend at the school in New York, and a... kinda one in Ontario. It kinda didn't get that far and, well, when everyone found out that kinda dashed any hopes I had.

"It can if you want it to in this instance." Emilie replied, her tone becoming quite serious for her.

"The point is, I'm old Victor. I'm a mature woman, not a girl. You're three times six which means you're an adult now and you can make your own decisions, but that doesn't mean you understand all the decisions you're making and I wouldn't be doing my job as your senior if I didn't point that out.

Have you thought about that at all?"

Victor dumped his garbage and compost in the appropriate bins, getting his helmet situated on his head before the even left the restaurant.

"You know, we could've saved money and just gotten one helmet if I started riding in a pocket or something."

Victor hesitated, fixing his goggles down over his eyes.

"But I don't have a permit yet. What if we get pulled over or somethin'?"
