"Neeevermiiind," he smirked before taking a big bite.

He finished up his to go meal, and pulled out a handkerchief to wipe his hands.

"You read?" He asked.

"Yep. Though mostly genre fare so don't ask me about literature or anything."

"Please, I'll read fan-fiction if I'm bored enough.

What d'ya read?"

"I just finished a book called Emperor Mollusk Versus the Sinister Brain. A genius alien supervillain conquered Earth by brainwashing humanity to love him... but has absolutely no idea what to do with it. But humanity is too addled to defend itself so when a new threat comes... he has to deal with it."

"Also... he's an octopus."

At the word octopus,the still visible Basil began doing some weird form of wavey arm dance while wearing the goofiest expression.

"Is this how I get the love of millions?"

Their shadow stopped walking when Basil did, and Diego could hear him stifle a chuckle.

"It's a start!" he chuckled, grinning as he did a similar octopus dance. He secreted a wave at their audience.

He waved back. Whoever this mystery man was, he was friendly.

He stopped and glanced at the man with a look intended to say "Go on. Spit it out. We don't bite."

The man held up his hands to show he wasn't harmful, but he still did not advance any closer.

He gave a "suit yourself" shrug and looked to Basil. "Let's go, Lord Invisopus. Your conquest awaits!" he grinned, taking his last bite and starting to walk.

Basil continued on, crab walking and wiggly armed like a complete and utter prat for several hundred feet more, until he tripped over something, swearing outloud.

That's when mystery man finally approached in a sprint.

"You're sucha bloody wanker." He sighed.

"I'd point out that he's drunk, but I just met him," Diego smirked.

"Aye, that's when he's his wankiest."

The redhead replied, his accent revealing he was 'from around here' more than Diego, but in a different here than Basil himself.

"Get off the ground you lanky useless git, you're ruinin' yer fancy frocks."

Basil just laid there, quite still indeed.

Diego looked down at Basil and raised a brow. "Uhh... Earth to Basil?" he asked, nudging him with a foot.

"Ish he gone?" He mumbled into the ground.

"The guy that looks vaguely like a better looking Seth Green?" he asked, "Nope."

"Who?" He asks Diego, then decides "Nevermind, I don't givva shite."

He sighed.

"Help me git'im up lad." He adds directed at Diego, then leans down to grab one of Basil's arms.

Diego thought about it for a moment before taking the other arm.

"Alright Booze Wizard, rise from your gwave!" he said, pulling up.

Basil did as requested, immediately shrugging off beardo, but not Diego for some reason.

"Stop it! For God's sake, Why are you even here?! Don't you have anything better to do than follow me around everywhere!"

He ignored Basil's outburst.

"Harold Ealdwine." He offered to Diego, along with a hand to shake.

"Diego Zapata," he answered as he shook the offered hand.

"So... yeah. What is with the lurking?"

"Don't know much 'bout our boyo, do ya?"

"Not really," he answered with a shake of his head.

"Ooh! Is he famous or something?"

"Naaaaahhhh mate." He laughed.

"Just a rich prat."

Basil just started toddling off without them.

"Crud. I never meet anyone famous," he lamented before registering Basil's slow retreat. He turned and said, "Uhh... dude? Where you goin'?"

Basil answered the wrong question.
" I could been someone famous, but then genetics buggered me. Now 'm just'a sometimes invisible drunk tosser who can't keep a girl's attention for more than five seconds."

He said over his shoulder.

"Says the one of us actually dating anyone," he pointed out.

"Ixnay on th'date-a mate." Harold replied, making the cut on throat motion and a panicked expression.

"You jus' don't want him t'talk about it 'cause you're th'reason 'm alone in th'first bloody place!" Basil replied, changing the story a bit on his last statement, though it seemed as if he felt it were true no matter how the two didn't seem to quite line up.

At this point Diego could tell Basil was still going towards the school, albeit in a wobbly and slightly indirect sort of a fashion.

"I have literally no idea what this business is about, buuut I should make sure he doesn't get run over or something," Diego said before going after Basil.

"You probably shouldn't be trying to outrun anything when drunk dude. Especially old... friends?"

"He's not a friend he's-" Basil was sober enough to still realize how bad the word 'help' sounded, so he paused for a long while trying to find another word.

"An employee. Kind of. If he's here that means my mum is watchin' me again. Which is why I am walkin' away 'fore I do somethin' stupid!" He announced the last bit back at Harold as he continued to walk.

For his part, Harold seemed content enough to hang around in the shadows and watch after the two young men, following along at a leisurely pace.

"Seriously? Your mom has you followed? That's so not a sane mom thing."

"Yyyeeeeepppp. I'm prrreetttty fucked up all around.

Thanks for putting up with me this long."

"I've so put up with worse," he smirked, "Unless she's a supervillain."

"Is she a supervillain?"

"I don't think so." Basil replied, furrowing his brow.

"The way she treats me suggests she's not like us anyways. Just a standard run of the mill everyday over-controlling shrew."
