"Let's just get back to the school. He can't follow us onto the grounds, he doesn't have clearance." He said, sounding a little defeated.

"That's probably best... yeah," he said with a nod, "Calling the police would just result in a headache and or paperwork for everyone involved."

"Besides, he seems nice for a hired stalker."

"He's not a bad person. He's just... weird. He' and his brother have spent practically their entire lives watchin' me. It's as if they've nothing better to do. How is that even possible?"

"Financial security? Family tradition?" he guessed. "I dunno. Weird is as weird does."

"You can't make a family tradition if you don't have family to pass it onto. They're both single in their 30s."

"I meant maybe... bodyguarding?... is in their blood. Like my family and law enforcement."

Basil shrugged, and went invisible. He was in his mind again and not particularly chatty anymore.
