The stronger light of the beam finally regained its foothold and his panic attack began to ebb.

Breathing calmly, he said, "I'm good now, I think."

"When they came at me with the shock sticks, I remembered Muto's goons using them on me. Between that and the smell pulling at my instincts... I saw red. And then when you started questioning me from there like he did, I panicked," he answered without much emotion beyond a lingering sadness.
