"That's awesome!"

"I guess it is, isn't it?" he smiled.

"You got any other ideas for what kinda gadgets you could use?"

"Net arrows would probably be useful, the grapple ones too."

"Ooh and flashbang ones. Or knockout gas! And you should get ones that have, like, something to douse fire, like foam or whatever's inside fire extinguishers."

"All great ideas," he nodded with reserved enthusiasm.

"Tracking devices?"

"Oh, yes, good idea! Maybe explosives too? Like, for busting through walls and such."

He appeared somewhat disturbed by the suggestion.

"What? No! That could seriously hurt someone!"

"Yeah but... so could arrows, right?"

"Well... yeah... but I don't plan on using regular arrows on people, and those don't create collateral damage."

"You just gotta be careful..." she says, not really following.

"I can't see through walls to know who might be caught in the blast."

"Alright, alright, no explosives then."

"Besides, we have plenty enough teammates able to bust through the walls for us," he smirked slightly.

"I guess, yeah..." she says kind of non-commitedly. "Still, it's nice to have options."

"Planning to be a one woman army?"

"Maybe? I dunno. It'd probably be a bad idea..."

"Yyyeah... invincible, you aren't," he said.

"Not as long as I can't do what my power wants me to." she grins.

"All someone has to do is plan far enough ahead and wear down your options until no choice remains that isn't exactly what they want you to do."

Buzzkill.

"Pff, yeah, I'd like to see someone try to outplan me." she says overconfidently.

"Would you bet your life on that?" he asked.

That, at least, stumps her for a second. She's been in life-or-deathish situations against one or two people, but the idea that someone would long-term plot to kill her seems... well it sounds far-fetched but so did busting a flame-spewing dragon drug-dealer a couple month ago. She realizes that this is probably the kind of thing Onyx had been talking about when she said that Madripoor can't really be changed. She's been hesitant to ask her power for a plan to do that out of fear it'd either remain silent or present her with a plan that she'd feel obligated to follow, because how couldn't she after the things she's heard? And Chase just condensed all of that down into a single sentence.

"I... I don't know..."

"My ability has kept me alive more than once, but overconfidence in it has nearly killed me a few times too. If you're going to fight, my advice is to know your limits," he said, his tone suggesting he had that very lesson drilled into him, and not gently.

"I know my limits. My power doesn't." she says and she's cocky enough to make it not blatantly obvious that this is a straight up lie.

"I hope, for your sake, you're right about that."

"Whatever. Who made you the expert on this kinda thing anyway." she mumbles.

An evil cult wushu training instructor, duh.

"Sorry... it's just... well... fighting is the one thing I know," he said, a little embarrassed.

"What, like Onyx?" she asks, her tone softening at least a little bit.

"You could say that. I've never gone out on the street to fight crime though."

"Then why do you know how to fight?"

Realizing he had already said too much, he was momentarily at a loss.

"I... I just do, okay?" he answered, sounding more irritated than he intended to.

"Yeah, well, so do I, even if I haven't been at it that long. I've even been to Madripoor." she brags, neglecting to point out that it was maybe for an hour and even then only so Onyx' mentor could patch her up after getting her ass kicked.

"Why would you want to go there?"

"Well it's a place that has a lot of people who need to be punched, for starters." she says a bit awkwardly, avoiding her specific reason for having been there.

"Well I'll give you that," he admitted.

"How do you know what Madripoor's like anyway?"

"I've... been there too," he said, looking uncomfortable to have even said that much.

"Oh. Seriously? Did you live there, or...?"

"I'd rather not talk about it."
