"It's entirely possible I've upped the difficulty on this for my own amusement.

You know, theoretically speaking, that is."

“Is it also possible,” she added, eyes narrowing in concern at something in the distance near the ceiling, “that these vampires can turn into bats?”

"It's...conceivable."

Almost on cue, the dozen or so bats fluttered and then shot towards them, diving into their midst and slashing at biting at their faces before swirling in onto themselves and expanding into at least four or five very pissed off looking vampires scattered around each of them.

Steph growled, tail twitching as her eyes darted around in panic before she let her instincts take over.

Will, taken by surprise as well, hit the floor for a moment. It took him a fraction longer than Stephanie to jump into action, but he did so, arms shifting into wooden stakes as he dove towards his prey, a savage look in his eyes.

Will's attack with his stake hands managed to simultaneously spear two vampires immediately whose wide-eyed expressions of pain were quickly obliterated as they crumbled into ash. The momentary pause between the stab and the disintegration did leave Will temporarily open to one of the creatures jumping for his back.

Steph, meanwhile, looked like she'd completely let her wilder side take over, and snarled as she pounced onto one of the vampires, just tearing its throat out messily, with spray of blood that wouldn't have been all that out of place in Evil Dead, seemingly ignoring the two others that slashed at her with their own claws.

The one that attacked Will's back sunk it's teeth deep into Will's throat -- and then wrenched it's head backwards in pain, a little pale yellow liquid flying from the wound.

Will had been knocked down by the attack, however, and tried to quickly regain his feet to give Steph a hand.

The vampires attacking Steph tried to claw at her legs and weaken her base, in the hopes that causing her to collapse would make her easier prey.

Seeing as how Steph was already almost on all fours after savaging the one bloodsucker, the two at her legs had a harder time destabilizing her, though they were making some nasty looking gashes into her powerful thighs.

Conveniently enough though, the vampires, after seeing the spray of blood were focused enough on the giant werewolf that Will's quick recovery was mostly unnoticed.

Will regained his footing and threw himself at a couple of the vampires wailing on Steph, arm-stakes first. That should even the odds.

Will had a nearly unimpeded path to the two going to town on Steph's legs, and they weren't even facing him, so they didn't see the double stakes until they had passed through their ribcages. They roared in pain, and started crumbling to dust, though his arms were trapped in place inside the disintegrating for just long enough for another one to dive at him from the side, fangs bared.

Steph, her legs suddenly freed, launched herself at the wall, ricocheted off it, and slashed across the throats of another vampire, sending it staggering back, but still up before pouncing onto a second vampire and ripping its throat out.

Will staggered back from the impact, but Steph's leap had done a nice job of keeping the vampires down and out, and it wasn't long before it was just the two of them standing there.

"Not bad at all!" Will said, catching her breath. "You've got some moves!"

Steph let out a growl that seemed...almost happy? in response, before she pushed herself back into two feet and shook her head, “I sort of just let her take over and...well she’s better at this than I would have thought. And you...well you’re just amazing.”

"Just experience. You should have seen me when I first started out -- two left feet. Sometimes three."

Steph chuckled, “somehow I think even that could work for you.”

"You know, you'd be surprised. I've had to practice plenty to get to where I am now; I envy people for who this comes naturally."

“It’s the least she would do since she won’t let me shift back to normal...” she grumbled.

"You'll get there, I'm sure. I'm told, on authority, that in situations like this, you need to come to, uh, some sort of 'understanding'?"

“It’s...weird really is the best way to describe it,” she replied after some thought.

“The inside of my head is no place to dwell though....I think we have some more vampires to hunt, no?” Steph said nodding towards the stairway at the end of the hall, a small smile spreading across her face.
