By standing on the shoulders of giants

Chisaki had been working on something quite heavily over the last month, and rolled into the labs early again today, but not so early that she wasn't in her trappings. When she was in the lab she didn't wear a dress, it fought the lab coat. Instead it was leggings and a hidden sweater under her lab coat, and her obviously fake multi-colour hair held back with a clip to keep it from getting melted by chemicals.

Anyone who had been watching her knew she'd been working with some new form of fabric as was her field, something that looked like latex. This morning, she had worked on making a very small bag out of it with the tools in the labs, pressing and sealing seams into it with a variety of tools until she basically had a two inch wide by three inch pocket.

Then moved to pull a vial sample of a pink viscous liquid out of sample storage the size of the soda can.

"Come on... work this time... Please!" She plead the object as if somehow it was sentient.

She followed by dumping the liquid into the pocket slowly. It grew to hold all of the liquid much to Chisaki's excitement. Once it was full, she held it over her head and exclaimed " YATTA!!!"

She then followed by flinging the expanded 'bag' in a circle like a sling over her head, all of the liquid staying inside. She was dancing with it over her head in a complete display of over confidence and began rapping-

"Still the beats bang, still doin' my thing
Since I left ain't too much changed, still
I'm representin' for them gangsta's all across the world
Still hittin' them corners in them low-low's girl
Still takin' my time to perfect the beat
And I still got love for the streets!"

She exclaimed out loud triumphantly to anyone present foolish enough to look at the shameless exhibition.

After failing to get anyone's attention in the lab, she skipped happily out into the hallway to see who else she could show off to. It didn't really occur to her that 'team Science' probably didn't care about peoples mundane clothing problems and didn't care about her accomplishment because she was weird. She just thought they were too busy working on their projects.

She was twirling the black swatch like a bag of gold in her hand, the bag getting gradually bigger, and bigger... and bigger...

It was roughly the size of a basketball now and she sang to herself grooving through the hallways looking for someone she knew (or someone stupid enough to stop and talk, whatever).

"Tosh, trust me on this, modeling this fight out in the Danger Room is going to be way faster and way more fun than proving it to you with math, which I hate. And once you see it, you're going to see I totally made the right call on that fight with the trolls, and that you totally deserve the raise dead bill for my NPC," Trev said as he rounded the corner to come face to face with Chisaki, almost running into her.

He let out an undignified yelp of surprise and dropped his stack of D&D books.

"NPCs should steer clear of wizard shar..." Tosh was beginning to say when he plowed into Trev and rebounded onto his rear end.

"Dude! What the... oh, Chisaki," he said as if it explained everything.

"I did this thing!" She exclaimed, holding up her scrap of fabric filled with pink goo.

"Jesus Christ, Chisaki..." Trev panted, stooped over to pick up his books.

"Scared the shit out of me...uh...what is...that?"

"No. Watanabe Chisaki." She corrected, then added-

"It is a special suit!"

Tosh got to his feet and came around Trev. "Waterproofing?" he asked.

"Yes, but also it expands and contracts.... but also it has a shape memory! So a wearer does not have to think to hold the shape once it is where it should be!"

"...why would I call you by your first and last name?" he asked, confused.

"She's saying her family name isn't Jesus Christ... I think?" Tosh answered Trev with a shrug.

"Anyway... so... this fabric is for shifter clothes? 'Cause I would love an alternative to super spandex."

“So would we all. I’ve seen enough of your firm shark ass for about ten lifetimes.” Trev joked.

Her manic grin widened at Tosh getting her joke, and continued. "Yes! It is something I have been working on for awhile, but did not have a valid test subject until I moved in with Colette. I took a sample from her to go back to it as a surprise Christmas present, and it worked!

If X-corp will let me file for a patent on it through them, perhaps we can stop paying the extortionist Reed Richards!"

“I’ll bet Steph wouldn’t mind some of these...” Trev pondered aloud, though he’d still barely been able to see his former flame in spite of her being on campus almost six weeks.

"If you want a non-polymorphic subject, I'm up for it. Bruce would really test the stretchability."

"I will need to figure out how to render it into a suit, but I will definitely let you know Toshiro-Senpai.

What have you two done today?"

“Argued about the feasibility of shark wizards being able to blindly target fireballs around a corner at trolls while a hapless NPC prisoner stood in their midst unknown to anyone.”

"Since when do cave trolls keep prisoners!" Tosh protested, "Besides, Baruseh only had AoE spells left."

Baruseh, Great Wizard of the Seas, tended to only have AoE spells.

“Since when did Baruseh know anything about troll sociology in my world? And since when did he ever have anything except AoE spells?”

"Trolls eat people." Chisaki added while nodding in agreement with Tosh and vaguely smiling.

"See? She gets how trolls work. And I usually at least give him chain lightning."

"Chain lightening does not sound like a one combatant idea."

Who's side was she on exactly?

“I knew the possibility was there. Baruseh made it happen.” he smirked back.

"Objection!" he responded, dramatically pointing at nothing in particular.

Trev chuckled, “I’m not used to having backup. This is great.”

"I cannot be three day trial judge for that scenario as I have no evidence to Trevor-senpai's math knowledge. And I refuse to grade his papers." She replied, grinning maniacally.

Colette's normally smiling face formed a frown that somehow still looked ditzy.

"I am going to give it back." She counter argued.
