As he waited for his fellow X-Men, Shane leaned back in his chair at the War Room table and smirked. He was feeling energized by his recent success and extremely pleased with his cleverness. He began singing quietly to himself as he thought about how to explain his plan.

“‘Sup,” Haley nodded cheerfully as she tied her hair back into a ponytail, freshly changed into her team uniform.

"Hey. Just you or is your boyfriend coming too? I could... probably use a tech type..."

“Haven’t talked to him yet today,” she replied, her face scrunched up in thought. She pulled out her phone.

“Toshie is on his way.” Haley cheerfully replied, tucking her phone into her back pocket. “Gimme the short version and we can do the long version when everyone gets here.

"I want to use the Danger Room to make the Skrull Will and I caught think he's escaped so we can see what he does."

"Sorry I'm a bit late," Will came in, looking a little flushed. "Fight did a number on me."

“Aren’t they telepathic and alien and smart and stuff? Or do you think we can make the DR seem even more real...I mean...I think I could maybe help with some of the brain shit. Sorta...Vulcan mind trick them or whatever.”

"Correct me if I'm wrong Will, but aren't they only telepathic if they've undergone some ritual or procedure or something?"

"It's my understanding that they're not telepathic at all. They're just really shitty shapeshifters.


Well, they have that weird ritual thing where they take on attributes of people, but they are not naturally telepathic."

“Well...guess that explains why that fake Reza faked everything so well. Thought it was telepathy...but cool! That would make things way easier,” she nodded. “Even my shitty telepathy can probably help with that...read its mind, help make the DR seem extra real...” Haley pondered aloud.

"Any heads up on it seeing through the ploy would be extremely helpful," he answered with a nod. "Time to adjust and all."

“I’ll do my best,” she nodded, looking less confident in her abilities than she wanted to look.

"Your requested brain has arrived," Tosh cheerily announced as he entered. "What'd I miss?"

“We’re going to turn the Danger Room into this elaborate trap to get our Skrull to give us information, baby!” Haley said cheerfully, rushing up and giving him a peck on the cheek.

He gave her a return kiss on top of her head. "So we're gonna Inception him? I like it," he nodded.

"Or is it Outception?"

"X-ception!"

"Call it whatever you bloody want. Just don't... make out the whole time," Shane smirked, albeit with some jealousy.

“You have the best puns, sweetie,” she giggled.

“So let’s do this. Where do I stay to keep my mind in his? Up in the observation room?”

"Well, what's your effective range?" Shane asked.

“Probably the closer the better, really. I think I’d be okay in the observation room.”
