Home Sweet Home

The site of the recently restored Braddock Lighthouse. Aircraft hangars and other X-Men facilities, including a Cerebra unit and the Danger Room have been constructed around the foundations of the lighthouse.

As the chaos dies down and the AIs use Tosh's goober to begin sorting out the entangled dimensions, buildings and landscape fades back to normal and portals open up, pulling people back to their proper places.

Sara is hurrying across the former battlefield, looking for the telltale sign of green hair in search for her two Wills.

The Boy was slowly pulling himself together in the center of the mess, reconnecting clay as it went.

"Remind me to look into obedience training if we ever get a dog back home," he groaned, sitting up.

"Geez, Sam, I'm sorry about that; I wasn't expecting to roll quite so far away," he smiled, leaning over her.

"I'm sorry, Sam, but...there's no time. I've got to go home. I don't know how long these portals are going to open, and I've been waiting a very, very very long time."

He reached up and swept some of the hair out of Sam's eyes. "I wish I could take all of you with me, or just...keep it like this. With all of us, together. I don't want to leave you behind, either. But trapping you in my world is no better than me being stuck here.

You're my family, no matter on what side of a dimensional rift you're on. We're pack, right?"

"Well, to each their own, I suppose," Will smiled.

"With the Crystal Computer back running in the lighthouse, maybe we can figure something out in the not-too-distant future. But for now..."

Will grinned once more as the rift opened up behind the Assembled Stantons.

"We bid you all a fond, FOND, fond adieu."

Through the rift, Sara's lab sat, waiting for them; home in the distant future, a dimension or to the left.

They walked towards the rift. Sara and Robin passed through without any issues.

Will and the Boy...

Will and the Boy bounced, thrown back into the quad by the dimensional boundary.

Sara turns around after walking a couple steps into her lab and the smile on her face falters.

"No, but... I vaccinated you with the right dimensional stuff and everything!" she says, taking a couple rapid steps towards the boundary and hitting it like a brick wall. Worse, because brick walls she could do something about. "No no no no no!" she shouts, banging her fists against the barrier.

Robin freezes as Sara's smile disappears, stopping mostly through the portal with her back-foot still on the grass of the other side. Afraid to move one way or the other her head twists around on her shoulders to look back. "D-dad?"

Sara's smashing was quickly joined by The Boy, sending his weight into the barrier with all his might, and bouncing off it again.

"NO. Damn it, no, no, no," he swore, as if he could pierce the dimensional rift with the sheer force of anger, slashing and clawing at the brick wall-ian rift.

"I... I don't know. The sample should have given you the right dimensional properties. It should have worked, damnit!"

She pulls out the doohickey and fumbles with it for a moment, almost dropping it with shaking hands before she manages to get the small piece of clay inside of it out.

"I got both of you, this isn't right!" she says, looking around frantically until she spots the spectral analysis chamber on the nearby benchtop and rushes over to put the sample inside.

Muttering to herself she turns it on and rapidly scans through as the results come scrolling down the screen.

"Pattern's right, genetic sequence is the same, dimensional signature's the same, how..." The machine suddenly beeps loudly as lines appear in red.

Code: Select all
Temporal Anomaly detected
Dimensional Constant off-set
Sample out of Synch with Temporal Alignment by approximately 25 years

"Fu--uudge!" Sara curses. "Fudge, fudge, fudge!"

"You know I'm an adult, right? You can say fuck. Cause fuck!" Robin interjects.

"It's from way back in the day. The sample. That was 25 years ago from this reality. I overwrote you with a sample that's not old enough..." she goes on, ignoring her daughter's comment with a dejected voice. "It's my fault. I screwed it up..."
