The door to the workshop in the point swung open, and Mitch stepped through, a duffel bag swung over his shoulders.

"Hello? Anyone around?" he called out, looking around the room. "Anyone at all?"

The nearly instrumental metallic grind associated with the tightening of bolts came from behind a partition in the corner of the large room of high-tech doo-dads. Whoever it was apparently couldn't hear him.

Mitch peaked his head around the partition.

"Hello?"

He would find a rather large white and blue ferret in an X-Men uniform wearing child-sized work gloves and safety goggles. The creature gave his ratchet wrench a final crank before worming his way out of the small half-constructed cockpit of some kind of robotic vehicle. He removed an earbud, allowing the faint sounds of Johnny Cash to leak out as he looked at Mitch expectantly from an upside down position.

"Ya want somethin'?" he drawled.

"W...w....what?" Mitch said, taking an involuntary step backwards. "W...w....who?"

"What? Never seen a shifter be..." he began to ask before his eyes landed on the cybernetics.

"Oh my god is that a cyborg hand?!" he asked with a grin and wide, beady yet adorable eyes. He scrambled over for a better look.

Mitch jerked his hand back as the ferret charged him. "A...a what?" he said, still a little thrown off. "You're a...huh?"

"Shapeshifter. Currently a big ferret. Keep up and stay still slowpoke," he said, whirling around the squirming teen to keep examining the arm.

The arm wasn't quite working at full strength -- it had apparently been banged up a little on Mitch's trip to the university.

I mean, this was certified? By X-Corp? And it has certain standards and specifications? And I'm not sure if you're up-to-date on them?"

"Relax compadre, me prime won't do anything ya don't want," he assured as he bounded over to a small pile of clothes next to a toolbox. There, he changed into a human.

"Sorry about him. That me can be a bit... insistent."

"Wow. You really are new to all this," he chuckled. "You'd be surprised how fast stuff around here gets to seeming normal."

"The headmistress would be more qualified, but if the damage isn't too bad I could likely fix it myself. I'm very good with machines," he said as he pulled on his jeans.

The damage mostly appeared to be superficial -- well within Tosh's capabilities to fix.

"Then, if you wouldn't mind. I'd hate to be delayed too much on my first day."

"Not at all," he said, slipping on his lab coat so he can use the pockets for a few small tools. He guided Mitch to a seat by a work desk and got to work.

"I'm Tosh, by the way."

"Oh definitely. The damage is mostly superficial so I should be pretty quick," he said, tightening a connection.

"Do you mind if I ask what happened to your original hand?"
