Three Wolf Moon

Tereza had checked and double-checked the preparations for the full moon, confirming the security lockdown several times before latching herself onto Viv until it started getting close to the sun going down. Then she began hurrying Vivienne to the Point, always trying to put them closer to the Danger Room with each passing minute.

"I am so tired of winter. Everything smells so...wet." She said as she paused for the tenth time to shake off a drooping tree branch.

"It'll be spring before you know it," Tereza says, obviously trying to not be obviously on edge. She takes Vivienne's arm and begins walking a little more rapidly towards the Point. "Still feeling okay?"

"Oh...would that make things like a chore chart? That wouldn't be good."

"Only if you make a chart and have a set schedule," Tereza says, "But I'm not opposed to the idea. I'm afraid tonight's going to be more than just the two of us though."

"We'll be fine. The moon isn't due up for a bit yet," Tereza reassures Isolde. Then she turns to Vivienne, "But we should get you into a shapeshifter uniform and get you down to the Danger Room so it can go on lockdown."

She pouted as she watched Tereza walk away. She turned to Isolde and shrugged her shoulders, actually shrugged them. "Dunno. Never been. All new. You tell me. You're the expert, expert."

"Usually I see pups like you are giddy their first moon. They don't know what's about to happen to them, they just know they feel good. So they go out, have fun."

"And then it gets messy after that, so I can't help but feel that part of the curse is considered a feature, not a side-effect."

"I wouldn't say "giddy". There is a lot of energy, hard to be still and focus. Feels like...well, like a very large working of magic."

With herself and Isolde inside, Tereza says "Computer, run Rozanov-Protocol-1." The door close behind them and there's a noise as the door locks down. The room shimmers and becomes a forest with a meadow visible through the trees. Tereza shakes her head and her irises fade to gold, "Moon's getting louder."

Outside, the sun goes down and the moon begins to peek over the horizon, scents begin to get sharper and sounds louder. There's a hum that's been playing in the back of Vivienne's brain all day and it suddenly rises to a crescendo as the change begins suddenly overtaking her.

"Noted," Tereza says through sharpening teeth before she relaxes and lets the change take her completely, exploding up into her silver-white pelt with a howl.

The hum in Vivienne's head persists and the urge to run and hunt soon begins to become overwhelming. At first, it feels like she has a fever and then like she's burning up before fur begins to sprout everything and her jaw stretches out into a long muzzle. The sounds are unpleasant, but she's lost in the rush of the change as her body begins adding on mass, growing bigger and bigger.

It's like a dam has been broken, and the flood is sweeping across Vivienne's thoughts. Every desire, every frustration suddenly lacks a coherent reason not to act upon it as 'why?' becomes 'why not?'

It can't just be contained in Vivienne, either. The storm surge threatens to spill over into Tereza's mind as well, boundaries literally and figuratively fuzzy in the face of the moon's song.

The calmest shore at the moment is the large black-pelted wolf, shaking off the sweat she worked up during the change. Golden eyes catch the moon as they turn toward Tereza.

"Steady," comes something like Isolde's voice at the edges of Tereza's mind. "You don't have to swim against it. Let it flow around you."
