Now I Know

[Wanda Johansson]

Wanda slips into the shrouded observation room, backpack slung over one shoulder. She sets it down next to one of the chairs and takes a seat, checking the view of the room as she unzips the backpack and begins looking at its contents.

[Samantha McManus]

Sam is sitting in one of the chairs already, tension written across her frame.

"I hate this, you know." She says to Wanda, not lifting her gaze from the window.

[Wanda Johansson]

"Not being able to be in there? Or just the pain it causes them? Or both?" She fishes out a blanket and offers it to Sam.

[Samantha McManus]

"Being cut off from them in general."

"I don't mean that to sound codependent or anything, but I suppose it does anyway."

[Wanda Johansson]

"I'm probably one of the few people who doesn't think it sounds codependent. I don't like being separated from her anymore than she likes being separated from me."

[Samantha McManus]

"I don't know how or why it's happened, but it doesn't feel wrong, does it?"

[Wanda Johansson]

"I have a feeling we're talking about different things," Wanda says, "But no, it really doesn't. Sort of like... it's the way things are meant to be."

[Samantha McManus]

"I mean we probably are talking about different things, but there's almost nobody else here who slightly knows what it's like."

[Wanda Johansson]

"Well, my connection to Isolde is a bit esoteric in some respects, but I'm told it's something of a tradition for someone like me to have someone like her. Part of that whole 'Child of Earth' business. I can sort of feel her, know when she's hurting... it's... strange, but sometimes nice."

[Samantha McManus]

"That's not that different from what I get from those two. Even before Viv was infected."

[Wanda Johansson]

"I'm not sure how I'd manage feeling it from two. One is more than enough for me."

[Samantha McManus]

"Suppose from some respect I've still got them outnumbered," she shrugs.

[Wanda Johansson]

Wanda fishes a thermos and a couple of mugs out of her backpack, "True, purely on a per raven per capita basis." She opens up the thermos, "Hot chocolate?"
