Xaviers!

It's one of the rare nice days of early Spring and Wanda is taking advantage of it, sitting on one of the rocky areas out near the Point and watching the clouds roll slowly across the sky. She holds out a hand and a small cloud forms over it before it scoots up into the sky to join its larger siblings. She smiles as she watches it go, shoulders relaxing a bit.

"Did you just... make a cloud?" says a baffled but curious voice behind Wanda. A couple yards away a young woman has stepped off the path leading to the Point and onto the grass. She's wearing a white and mauve training uniform but looks rather awkward and uncomfortable in it.

"I did," Wanda says, turning her head to regard the young woman. "Weather's kind of my thing."

"Is that why it's so nice out today? If so, thanks."

"That's just the whims of the environment. I can't take credit for that, even if I'd like to."

"Oh." she says awkwardly. "Well, the little cloud was still really cool."

"Thanks. What brings you out to the Point?"

"Power control. Still got some sessions to catch up on from when the room was down..."

"The room has seemed pretty busy since they fixed. Seems like people really missed it."

"I... yeah, I guess so. It's safe. You probably prefer to be outside with your power, huh?"

"A bit. The Danger Room's can replicate weather patterns pretty well, but something about it just feels... off."

"Could've fooled me, but I guess I never really paid much attention to it."

"I guess it's like that uncanny valley thing for me. That 'close but not quite' strangeness."

"Weather really is that complex, huh? So is that whole butterfly thing true? Do you know?"

"In theory, I guess it could be true. But it would take a lot of time to follow that sort of cause and effect. Kind of like throwing a pebble into a pond. I'm more liking throwing a large rock into a pond. I try to be careful to fix things if I have to do a lot of manipulation."

"I know that feeling. Except my power doesn't exactly lend itself to fixing what it breaks..."

"Not everything does unfortunately. I can't undo lightning strikes or torrential rain either, just help with the aftermath."

"Oh yeah, wow, I hadn't even thought of that. That sounds awful."

"For a while, I let the consequences paralyze me a little. I worried about the effects of what I was doing. Then I decided that fear was keeping me from doing what good I could do."

"Easier said than done though, right?" Amy musters a smile.

"Of course," she says with a smile of her own, "I just have to remind keep reminding myself and keep trying. As trite as that sounds."

"Not going to lie, it kinda does." she says with bit of a chuckle. "Is that what you were doing? Trying? With the little cloud, I mean."

"Sort of. I like to think of this as a form of communing with nature. Some people have prayers or other things they do to settle their minds. I have this."

"Like meditating." she nods. "That's never really worked for me. I get antsy."

"Everyone has their own thing. My partner isn't quite the sit still and contemplate sort that I am."

"Yeah, guess you just gotta figure out what works, huh?" she sighs a little.

"Easier said than done, I know," Wanda says sympathetically.

"But better than impossible. If you can make sense of the weather then I can figure this out, right?"

"Of course. And everyone's here to figure out *something*. And don't let anyone tell you otherwise."
