Tosh, in his lab coat because science, placed the Will-card in a petri dish and connected electrodes to it. With the flip of a switch, he delivered a shock aimed to revert the card to the basic clay form.

The card made a slight high-pitched noise as the electricity zapped through it, but Tosh's earlier studies on Will were more than enough to know how to reduce him to jelly. Or clay, as it were. Either or.

He then put some of the clay on a glass slide and put it in the fanciest microscope available to see for himself what was going on.

Acala asks as she hovers towards where Tosh is working, bobbing through the air, trying to look over Tosh's shoulder.

He adjusted a knob on the microscope.

"He gave it to me in the form of a playing card. I had to administer an electric shock to return it to its default state."

The microscope itself showed cells which looked...

...OK, not 'normal' per se, but they were probably closer to the idealized cells you'd find in a beginner's biology textbook than any actual cells were. That's the advantage, one supposed, of working on Will -- no in-depth biology knowledge required.

They seemed to be producing, on the cellular level, their own crystalline structures; most likely microscopic doses of MGH. The street value of that lump of clay must be off the charts.

Tosh pulled back from the microscope and stroked his chin.

"The simplest possibilities would be either that the issue is simply that Will wants to grow the stuff, and no amount of medical intervention will accomplish anything, or that contact with the substance or energy altered his DNA in such a way as to amplify his natural production of MGH."

"Do we have Will's DNA on file for comparison?"

The analysis comes back with results.

Assuming Tosh is looking to compare the DNA sequences, the sample comes back as matching the previous sequence perfectly.

"Electricity has proven to be a reliable disruption to his shifting ability, but excess amounts of MGH take around twenty-four hours to leave a regular system. Impaired by electricity it might linger even longer."

"He's a moron. Turn him into clothes and throw him into an industrial washing machine. Turn him into an encyclopedia and tear out the page on MGH. Turn him into a computer and EndProcess MGH.exe. Remove the NOS tank from him as a car. I cannot stress enough how dumb his shapeshifting is."

The trail of the Will-blob went off the end of the table, along the floor a little ways, and then up into the air an into the air ducts above. That was inconvenient, to say the least.
