[Plot] Resistance Base Camp

[Toshiro Narumi]

Tosh's access privileges had luckily not yet been revoke. So it was without incident that the students actively resisting the situation filed into the hypertech workshop. They needed to take time to gather their wits and plan how to stop the headmaster from sowing untold chaos. Depowered they were, but powerless they were not.

"... and that is what we were talking about. I know it sounds crazy, but all the data we gathered and Sam's perceptions really do point towards these sparks existing."

[Will Stanton]

Will sat, by his self, in the back corner of the workshop, occasionally poking his palm with a screwdriver he had found.

[Leo Eskandari]

Leo waited out the crazy talk crouched against a wall, hugging his knees. He should be human damnit!

[Ainsley Green]

Ainsley was leant against Leo's shoulder, and let out a long sigh.

He didn't mind being normal so much, but not being able to talk to Leo when he felt like this was awful.

At last he broke his mopey silence. "All this time, I thought maybe if I could somehow not be a mutant... then I'd be normal again."

"It's not fair!" he exclaimed in frustration, hitting the wall.

[Victor Freud]

Victor sat on a beat-up old storage chest he'd drug from his room, cheek in hand and elbow on knee. This was all so inconvenient. Most of his thrifted clothing didn't fit him anymore so he had to content himself with the more comfy stuff. And normally he'd have just been able to pop that trunk in his pocket instead of having to carry it from the dorms to the Point. He wasn't even sure if they'd need it, but he didn't trust it left in his room anymore.

Part of him wanted to tell Leo how fortunate they were that he hadn't changed, that they needed every advantage they could get to prevent the entire country from devolving into pandemonium and maybe getting nuked. But that would have been a jerk move, so he bit his tongue.

"So... what's the plan?"

[Robin Stanton]

At last he broke his mopey silence. "All this time, I thought maybe if I could somehow not be a mutant... then I'd be normal again."

"It's not fair!" he exclaimed in frustration, hitting the wall.

"You are normal. Your normal. What Lippincott's doing is the only thing wrong here." Robin says awkwardly. She's really not herself right now, huh.

[Leo Eskandari]

"Easy for you to say," he said sadly.

[Robin Stanton]

"It is. Cause I was lucky enough to grow up in a better world. But that doesn't mean it's you whose wrong."

[Leo Eskandari]

"You don't understand. This isn't my mutation. I was made to look like this," he said, falling back on a feeling he thought he was getting past.

[Samantha McManus]

"And it's because of that you can still kick a prefect's arse."

[Victor Freud]

"She's right, you know." Victor spoke up. "Leo, right now you might be the only one of us who really has a chance on stopping all of this."

[Robin Stanton]

"But what about these guns!?" Robin demands, flexing her depressingly flabby arm. "Oh right. Damnit! Pretend my arm was a shotgun just then..." she sighs.

[Will Stanton]

"The rest of us can give some kicks and punches, and I suppose the good news is that none of the prefects there are particularly....burly.

Maybe a degree of surprise might help -- if we can get the doors open."

Will continued poking his palm with the screwdriver, holding up his finger and letting some blood trickle down it.

[Samantha McManus]

"Not burly, just stabby," Sam says, wincing as she gets the last of her bandages in place.

[Will Stanton]

"And cocky, and sadistic," Will added, glancing over at Miriam's bunny ears.

[Miriam Bell]

"If I get my hands on that little monster..." Miriam mutters as she reaches over to, surprisingly gently, take Will's hand to keep him from continuing to jab himself.

[Victor Freud]

"... what kind of door is it?" Odd question.

[Will Stanton]

"Big. Heavy. Metal. Electronic keypad, and I don't think our old codes will work."

[Natalie Denisov]

Off to one side, one of Tosh's computers starts a rebuild of his code which is not overly unusual. Continual compiling and all that. It does pick up another package that wasn't there before. A package that is generating warning messages.

"Hinges are on the inside I bet. And probably not so lucky to be a lever handle either. Electronic keypad you say...?"

[Will Stanton]

"Yeah," Will nodded. "You have any experience with those?"

He idly bumped one of Miriam's ears out of her face.

[Victor Freud]

"Only in theory. I guess the question falls down to whether or not they got a quality lock. Because if not..." Victor nodded his head in thought.

[Leo Eskandari]

Leo suddenly decided something and leaned over to kiss the top of Ainsley's head, not caring that it revealed to everyone he was gay.

Looking up, he said, "If I wasn't like this, I wouldn't have really met him. And he's worth fighting for. So count me in."

[Toshiro Narumi]

While most of the others were giving their trump card a pep talk, Tosh happened to spy the errors on his lab computer.

"Umm, guys? Guys! I think Natalie is in the crystal computer!"

"Nat! Can you hear us?"

[Robin Stanton]

Leo suddenly decided something and leaned over to kiss the top of Ainsley's head, not caring that it revealed to everyone he was gay.

Looking up, he said, "If I wasn't like this, I wouldn't have really met him. And he's worth fighting for. So count me in."

"Aww... Look at you two. That's the spirit, Leo!" Robin grins.

[Samantha McManus]

"I don't know if that's a smart idea, Tosh."

[Victor Freud]

Victor gave Leo a thumbs up, moreso for the kiss than saying he was in. The latter was inevitable, that's part of the reason they were at the school.

"Wait, in the computer? I... well computers can't breathe so...."

[Ainsley Green]

Ainsley beamed at the attention and rolled his shoulders shyly, but didn't stop Leo's affections.

"I don't know if that's a smart idea, Tosh."

"Oh!" he said, quieting, "Right, sorry."

He opened up an input prompt and typed...

"I'm going to... see what I can manage," Sam says, getting up and heading to a room to the side of the lab.

"If you hear screaming... wait a little, but not forever."

[Victor Freud]

Victor watched Sam exit, stage left.

"... should I be worried? 'cause that's kinda worrying."

[Emilie]

"She's probably trying to force being a god or something." Emilie piped up, sounding bored.

[Will Stanton]

Will hesitated.

Then he grunted, got up, and walked slowly to follow Sam.
