[Relationship] In Case of Laser Death

[Leo Eskandari]

Leo and Ainsley had settled in an uncrowded corner of the workshop to be together before things got wild again.

Leo gave his guy a lopsided grin and said, "I guess we're officially a thing now."

[Ainsley Green]

Ainsley looked at Leo, who was clearly lovesick. Ainsley couldn't help but find it at least slightly amusing the Leo felt the precipice of death was the time for his coming out.

"Guess so." He replied on his phone with an amused grin on his face.

[Leo Eskandari]

"What? Was 'I will fight for you' too cheesy a way to come out?" he asked with a smirk.

[Ainsley Green]

Ainsley did that back and forth head bob people do when they're weighing things and then followed with the 'a little' hand signal he used when asking Leo about his horns.

[Leo Eskandari]

He chuckled, then sighed.

"Truth is... I realized that if we don't get our powers back, I'd never hear you again. And we couldn't stay here. And honestly you and this place are the best things to happen to me in a very long time."

[Ainsley Green]

"Replacement worry." He showed Leo, then flipped his phone away to write a slightly longer message before turning it back towards him with an evil grin.

"Might have to dump you if invisible librarian becomes single and likes sausages."

[Leo Eskandari]

He knew it was a joke, but it still made him worry for a second.

"Didn't peg you for the posh bookworm type," he said, hoping his abandonment anxiety didn't show.

[Ainsley Green]

"I'm not."

[Leo Eskandari]

"Good. I wouldn't want to have to eat him," he joked.

[Ainsley Green]

"I don't think the gum drop needs assistance either
" He joked back.

Then he followed with-

"If he wins, where will we go?"

[Leo Eskandari]

"I have no idea. We'll just have to hope it really is temporary. If not... at least we have each other."

[Ainsley Green]

Ainsley's brow knit in thought.

"Got friends in Lambeth still, probably..."

[Leo Eskandari]

"Good enough to let us crash 'til we figure things out?"

[Ainsley Green]

"Definitely.

Lambeth looks out for Lambeth."

[Leo Eskandari]

"I wish I had let myself experience Lambeth like you did. Maybe we would have gotten to know each other sooner. I just... wasn't in a very good place."

[Ainsley Green]

Ainsley shrugged.

"Had to. Grew up there."

[Leo Eskandari]

"How long have you known these friends anyway?"

[Ainsley Green]

"Since after the change. When Lambeth became Mutanttown.

Looked out for them, welcomed them.

They owe me a favour or two."

[Leo Eskandari]

"Whatever happens, I'd like to meet them someday."

[Ainsley Green]

"Maybe during the summer?"

[Leo Eskandari]

"Sounds like a plan," he smiled.

Yep, boy's got it bad.

[Ainsley Green]

"Will you return next year? For school?"

[Leo Eskandari]

"That's the plan anyway. I think I need to be here. "

[Ainsley Green]

Ainsley thought about the last week or so for a moment.

"When we're better, track down missing items?"

[Leo Eskandari]

"Yeah. I mean, that's what we would be doing if this didn't happen."

[Ainsley Green]

"Friends could be useful then."

[Leo Eskandari]

"We don't need an army to find one piece of jewelry. But I guess it couldn't hurt."
