The X-Men are Going to Japan!

My friend Basil is missing and I am in need of backup for a trip to Japan to find Chisaki Watanabe, who might know something. It should be strictly a fact-finding mission but I have very little information to go on other than a location. Any help would be appreciated. Will give more info in the War Room.

Sometime after sending out a message to the X-Men, Chase waited in the War Room for whoever might show up. Dropping her name would definitely bring her friend Diego running, so he had that at least.

Given their relationship, it should be little surprise to anyone that Colette was also in attendance. It was actually her first time in the War Room and it showed as she curiously looked about at, well, everything.

Diego practically ran in.

"You know where Chisaki is? What happened? Why would she know about Basil being missing? Is she in trouble?! Tell me everything!" he asked rapidly and in a single breath.

"I'll explain in full when more get here but, yes, I know where to look for her and I don't think she's in any danger."

That seemed to satisfy the catboy enough for the moment as he took a seat.

"I'm definitely going, by the way."

"Well, zat makes zree of us so far." Which was definitely better than two, so Colette was pleased.

"I'll try to proactively recruit someone to fill in the ranks, but I might as well fill Diego in while we're here."

He began by explaining the alleged breakup letter and the unusual ghosting that led them to suspect foul play and the interactions with Chisaki and Howard Ealdwine that confirmed it. The cat was out of the bag on Chisaki so he added how she was some sort of secret minder for Basil and how her failure was why she left so abruptly.

"At least I get why she was so cagey about what happened. And here I was thinking it was a sensitive family issue," Diego said.

"Being a spy of sorts honestly explains a lot."

"And is also really cool," he added with a melancholic grin.

"Under different circumstances anyway."

"The plan is this: With help from X-Corp, we'll be flying commercial to Tokyo-Haneda Airport, then transferring to a flight to Ishigaki in the western Ryukyu islands. From there we'll be taking a rented boat to the island Mr. Ealdwine pointed us to where we'll presumably find Chisaki."

"There are forces that don't want us involved in whatever is going on, so we should be prepared for anything. Which is why I'll try to rope in someone more durable than we are. Or just more powerful as a deterrent."

As Chase spoke, he brought up multiple maps, including an online aerial map which, like many remote places, couldn't be set to 'surface level'.

But there was a building of some kind on the island. A large, multipart affair with tiles on the roof, and what appeared to be a very large water feature of some kind. Whatever or whomever was being kept here was being 'hidden in plain sight'.

There was also a distinct lack of dock, but the image showed something contrasting and artificial, well away from the shoreline.

A boat perhaps?

"At least Chisa has nice digs," Diego whistled.

"And hopefully no deathtraps."

He imagined being strapped to a tab with a cutting laser slowly moving towards him.

No Mr. Zapata, I expect you to die!

"Do you really zink zat zings are zat dangerous?" Colette asked Chase with an expression that bore her concern better than her tone could. She had assumed Chisaki couldn't say more due to family obligations or something else of the like. This was sounding very serious. Not that kidnapping wasn't already pretty serious.

"It might not be. I'm just making sure you both know that it could be since we'll be going in blind."

"Hope for the best, plan for the worst."
