"Doesn't look like much now, aye?" Sam says as they step into the Danger Room, the lights flickering on to reveal the smooth tiled floor and walls.

Murphy shakes her head. She sniffs the air, keeping one hand at the knife on her belt.

She trusts Sam--Murphy trusts remarkably easily and quickly--but the phrase "Danger Room" had her a little bit suspicious.

"It's because it's not yet turned on," she says, walking over to the edge of the room and engaging one of the panels. She puts her student ID on a square, and a menu displays on the panel.

"Pick your poison. The grayed out ones are the ones they don't let me load up, yet. Still, almost all the pretty scenery is there."

Murphy leans over Sam and scans through the options. Finally she selects "Island Beach" from the setting list and watches in amazement as the scenery begins to change.

Murphy nods, taking a deep breath. It even smelled right. It was incredible!

She takes a seat and starts unlacing her boots.

"Good idea," she says. "Got a bit warm, aye?"

She sets down her backpack on the edge of the sand and pulls off her baggy sweater. Her shoes soon follow.

Murphy cocks her head, watching Sam hurry off with a look of confusion on her face. Shrugging, she tosses her shirt aside and kicks off her pants before jumping into the water.

A few deep breaths and a change of clothes later, Sam returns in a fairly conservative one-piece swimsuit. Casting her eyes about, she spots Murphy in the water and waves as she approaches the shoreline.

Sam wades out with a smile. It's easier not to think about... things, with Murphy already in the water.

"Guess you like this better than a pool, aye?"

"Bigger," Murphy says, not wanting to admit she'd never actually been in a pool before.

Murphy suddenly dives underwater and grabs Sam's leg playfully, trying to pull her down with her.

Unfortunately, she had lost the fish. She still looked happy though.

"Not sure this is gonna work, but okay..."

She closes her eyes, feeling things out. Her frame lurches back up to match the tall girl's, complete with gills.

Sam doesn't particularly know how to handle gills though, and she makes a sudden gasping motion with her mouth, panic in her eyes until she stumbles and manages to get her neck below water.

Sam makes a few abortive attempts at speaking, before finally settling on mental contact.

There was a feeling of surprise at the mental contact, but she quickly adapts.

Breathe.

Murphy sends with the word an instinctual behavior of using the gills to trap oxygen in the water and circulate it through the body.
