"If it's at all possible, you'll figure it out, I'm sure. Most people make do with being much less indestructible." she chuckles.

[Will Stanton]

"I've figured out a couple tricks since I've been gone. Some pretty nice telepathic defenses, if I do say so myself," he humblebragged. "But electricity is a harsh mistress."

[Robin Stanton]

"You figured out how to protect your noggin and you didn't share!?" she huffs, finally relenting on her legs being uncooperatively loose and letting her lower body collapse into a pile of tentacles. Those don't need bones as much and can't look embarrassingly weak cause they're already nothing but jelly and muscle.

[Will Stanton]

"You probably wouldn't like it, but yeah. Something I picked up from when Miriam split me into two. That part of me was a little more...hardcore.

Pain. I had to focus on pain. Broke my own thumb. But that kind of intense sensation could override external forces, at least somewhat. Can't make the brain work if it's focusing on something else."

"Well okay, that's a lot. Guess I'll keep that in mind but, uhm, yeah no thanks..." she cringes a little.

[Will Stanton]

"Yeah. 0 out of 5 stars, do not recommend, bones are overrated. Better to just be turned into a slug," Will nodded. "Most of the time, at any rate."

[Robin Stanton]

"Yes, squid rules!" she says, slapping her tentacles on the ground rhythmically. "No bones, only fluid-filled sacs."

[Will Stanton]

"Experimenting with fluids, still?" Will laughed, the latest in a long line of debates between them. "I still think you'll come around to dough once you actually have more experience under your belt. Solid consistency through and through, and not at risk of puncture. Maybe your European vacation will teach you something, after all."

[Robin Stanton]

"Pbbbbbbtttt!" Robin eloquently blows a raspberry and gives Will a thumbs-down. "Boo. Get new material." she chuckles. "The future is squid and full of glyco... synovial... gel! You know, bone lube." she says, cracking her knuckles. She might not remember the correct terms but she does remember that it's what makes joints pop like that. When she bothers to have joints.

"Bone lube would seem to require bones, which we've already established, is for lame-os!" Will protested, crossing his arms. And then again. And again, like a cinnamon twist.

[Robin Stanton]

"That's where you're wrong, daddy-o." she says, shooting him dual finger-guns. "Bone-lube minus bones means non-newtonian jiggling." she says, wriggling her tentacles and then punching down on one to demonstrate it becoming rigid in response. "You should listen to Mum sometimes." she grins, clearly flying high on her - very narrow - victory.

"Oh, you know her -- when she goes off on her science tangents, she's really speaking more to herself than to me. And my head's empty half the time, anyway.

I just enjoy listening to the rhythm of her talking more than anything else there. Competence is...I mean, it's really good."

"Mhmm, mhmm." Robin nods along, pretending to not really be listening.

Will stretched an arm out to flick Robin's ear.

Robin's ear, too, hardens in response to the physical impact, though that doesn't mean it doesn't smart.

"Ow! Hey!" she laughs.

"Hey, you're the one who dragged me out here; you can at least listen to my old man wisdom," Will joked. "Oldest wisdom in this or any other dimension."

"Old indeed! Clay's uniform, consistent response, gives you a baseline you can always rely on to react the way you know it to, can't really do any permanent harm to it cause you can always churn it and start over, absorbs things easily but washes out nicely, heard it all before." she chuckles. "But trying to push clay into rock or plastic or glass or anything like that is like... getting caught in a net. Yeah, you're a perfect stream-lined fish but you can't swim in that stuff. You gotta zig and zag and jiggle your way in there." she says, shimmying her octopus-hips.

"Yeah, but at least clay has a chance of maintaining it's integrity. Flow like water, and you can be diverted, shunted somewhere against your will. No, I'll stick with the mush; it's time-honored and tested."

"Good ol mush, nothing beats that!"

"Hey, I'm still standing, aren't I?" Will grinned, lopsidedly. "Best by test."

"Yeah, I guess nothing does beat mush after all." she chuckles. "But I still gotta find my own brand of it. Maybe you can't beat the classics, but dangit, somebody out there likes Crystal Pepsi."
