I've Closed My Eyes For Too Long

Tereza moved quietly along the wall of the passageway, bare feet making very little noise. She was dressed like she was going for a swim, the glowing lines under her skin adding to the hallway's meager light. Thankfully it wasn't enough to alert the guard about fifteen paces ahead. She moved quickly up behind him, wrapping one arm around his neck while her other arm reached towards his sidearm, icing it into the holster. He flailed, trying to dislodge her, but she twisted cutting off his air until he went limp. She stowed his body in a nearby closet and moved on. Two more guards and then she was in the ventilation system, inching her way towards the room she actually wanted. She watched through the vent as the technician in the room got up and left. Her hands and the soles of her feet coated in ice as she rolled onto her back and slipped out of the vent, trying to crawl across the ceiling with the ice gripping every little bit. It was all working beautifully until halfway to the objective. Her control on the ice slipped and when it did, so did she. She fell, landing on her back as the wind was knocked out her. The alarm started sounding and the Danger Room chimed up helpfully:

Code: Select all: Objective failed. Presence discovered. Medical data packaged for transmission to infirmary. Would you like to restart?

"No," Tereza responded irritably and the room returned to its normal metal appearance. She smacked the floor in frustration, standing up and moving out into the hallway outside the Danger Room.

"Hey Tereza!" Nailah waves at her as she walks down the hallway. She's wearing her white and yellow outfit, presumably on her way to the danger room herself. She's got a couple bandaids here and there and some bruises but nothing too serious. Her smiles falters a bit when she sees the expression on Tereza's face as well as her unusual look in general. "Are you okay...?"

"Hey, Nailah. Mostly okay. Messed up a training scenario... repeatedly," she said. "I really thought I had it this time."

"That stinks." she says sympathetically. "But what's with the new look?"

"Not sure. Still waiting for the infirmary to finish collecting their test results and figure it out. Happened during one of the fights in town and hasn't gone away yet like this used to," she gestured at the glow in her eyes.

"Don't know. Might go with something outlandish like purple, or maybe stick the natural colors. Have a suggestion?"

"Looks like you already have," she said, motioning at Nailah's bandages and bruises.

"Just a couple nicks from bouncing into swords and across the water." she tries to wave it off. "Woulda been less if I was better at moving how I wanna move, so I gotta hop right back on the horse, right?" she says, throwing some jabs at the tin air, only wincing a little bit at her various small aches.

"Onyx was a bit psychotic about that sort of thing though," Tereza said. "There is room for some level of moderation, though I can't believe I'm the one saying that."

"And who is in the Danger Room, still waiting for results from the med center?" she teases, ignoring the fact that the only reason she's not is because she didn't bother to get herself checked out. But Tereza doesn't need to know that.

"I wish I knew. I was drawing on a lot of power though, so I suppose it's possible I overdid it." She held out a hand for Nailah to get a closer look. Tereza's veins were glowing softly and her skin was actually cool to the touch. "It sort of felt like some things just clicked. Like the ice I was commanding was a part of me." She looked sheepish. "I know it sounds insane."

"I suppose," she said, still not seeming disturbed. "It wasn't really thick though. It almost looked like that stuff you find in glow sticks."
