Late in the day, a large dark shape moves beneath the waves along the shore.

Nailah was out and about, exploring the grounds. She had wandered along the cliffside for a while and finally just decided to say screw it and took a running leap off the cliffs and now she's slowly gliding through the air above the waves, grinning like an idiot. At least until she notices the large shadow in the water and she stares at it with her mouth hanging open for a moment.

A strangely ridged shark's fin breaks the surface near the front of the shadow before vanishing again.

"Holy shit!" she gasps and flaps her wings like crazy to try and gain more height. Getting eaten by a shark within the first week of college would be terrible. She'd never live that down.

Then a distinctly humanoid, and very large, shark-thing leaped from the sea dangerously close to Nailah.

Nailah scrambles in mid-air when a huge... thing leaps out, sea-water splashing at her. Her arms and legs wave around pointlessly, trying to instinctively find purchase on thin air as she goes down. Thankfully she wasn't too far from the shore and manages to go far enough to clear the water, but her landing could be better. She comes in too fast and with her hands forward and only barely manages to not face-plant into the sand, going into a roll that turns into a tumble of sand and feathers.

It crashed back under as Nailah made a sand castle with her face. Mere moments later it climbed out onto the rocky beach and stood, towering over the scene. Its eyes shone with an inner blue light as it looked at her.

Nailah is just getting up and dusting herself off when she turns around and watches Tosh emerge from the ocean. She promptly falls flat on her ass and scrambles backwards, pushing herself away with her feet, which only kind of works in the loose sand. "Oh my god it's Sharkzilla!" she screams.

"Sharkzilla" is apparently wearing a black and yellow training uniform. He holds up his clawed hands in a placating gesture.

"Whoah. Calm down babe. I'm a friendly,"
he said in a vaguely familiar voice. Sounded kinda like a surfer, oddly enough.

"You... okay?"

"Oh my god it can talk!" she says, the hair on her tail still poofed out but she's no longer scrambling away.

"Duh. Mutant, not Kaiju," he said, tapping the big yellow X on his chest.

"Sorry about the whole making you crash deal. I totally didn't see you."

"Oh shit... shark... You're Tosh!" she says, dusting herself off as she stands up, her tail finally calming down as well.

"What's a kaiju?"

"Yes and no. I mean, like, we share a brain and all... but I'm me and he's he, yeah?"

"And that's what Godzilla is."

"Name's Bruce," he grinned, "Or Captain Jawesome if you prefer."

That's not our codename.

Damnit Bruce, now that's gonna stick!

"No way? Electric Shark? Like someone mashed two critters together..." she says with a grin that makes it obvious she is aware of the joke, though maybe not of how lame it is.

"So... what's up anyway? Just flyin' cause it's awesome?" he asked, awkwardly flirting it seems.

Duuuude... dooon't...

One of us has to bro, before they all friendzone us.

"Yeah! The cliffs are perfect for taking off and getting some height. I was gliding for, like, 10 minutes with only a couple of flaps."

"A terrifying thought." she chuckles. "But yeah, it's really awesome. I was kind of bummed out by my mutation for a while until the first time I really managed to fly. There's nothing like it. You're just completely free!"
