"Yeah, I thought as much." He tried to imagine how hard it was for her, having her world turned upside down and having to start over from scratch over and over again. He gently brushed his fingers against her cheek while still holding her hand, perhaps the first affectionate touch he'd given her.

Emilie's response wasn't what one would except out of a girl her perceived age. What would usually be a blush was instead a scrunched up and amused face which rolled towards her shoulder as if Victor had tickled her, the eye on that side of her face closed up as she suppressed a grin.

"You get used to it. You have to when there isn't another option." She replied through her smirk.
