Xaviers!

Tereza is wandering the floor of the Danger Room, pacing as she tests the motion of the shapeshifter uniform she's wearing. She massages the palms of her hands, switching from hand to hand with increasing frequency.

"This is better, right?" Sam asks from the observation deck.

"You sure you don't want to load something up?"

"What did I say about indulging it?" As the day had carried on, she was getting more snappish.

"I just... thought it'd help with your frustration." She sighs.

"Lemme tell ya one thing, kiddo, being afraid of something has never helped anybody take control of it." X-23 chimes in from the door of the observation deck.

"And if it feels like it feeds on being indulged? What then?" She raises an eyebrow as she looks up at the observation deck.

"Then you're up shit creek, but that doesn't mean you're out of paddles." she says, stepping up next to Sam in the observation window. "Or... something. Metaphors aren't exactly my strong suit. Point is, you only indulge something if you give up control and even if it buries you, it can't kill ya off completely." she says. The last part is a lie and even if it wasn't, being buried inside your own mind isn't exactly pleasant, but scaring Tereza more isn't gonna do any good.

"It's... it's not mindless or completely unreasonable. In your head it just seemed... new."

"So if things do go horribly wrong, I may be somewhat aware of being put down like a rabid dog. Wonderful," she frowns and apparently decides to change the subject, "Sam, I need you to keep an eye out for any sort of telepathic contact. I'm pretty sure the woman who did this was in my head or something for a bit last night and if she's there again tonight, maybe you can pick up something that will help. If I end up like last night, I won't be able to tell you if she's there."

"I... I can try," she nods.

"Look kiddo, I know I have a reputation, but that's not why I'm here. I've been there, in a way. More so if someone is fucking with your head. No one's getting put down, I just won the 'Most likely to take a hit from a rampaging wolfbeast' lottery. Worst outcome of tonight is we gotta wait for the eggheads to come up with a solution."

"I can keep an eye out too," Haley added, arms crossed over her chest. She has dressed in her uniform just in case anything went sideways.

"Just don't let me bite you... or anyone else for that matter. We don't know if it's still contagious." She moves over and sits against one of the walls, leaning her head back. "I can hear it, you know. Not just the monster, but this... hum. It's always there, but it's been getting louder all day."

"Well, as long as we're up here and you're down there, hopefully that means no teeth get involved,"

"...she called it the moon's song."

"She said she had to answer it."

"How about we start this thing up with some nice and sunny daytime scenario. Might help."

"Yeah...that's a good idea. Maybe it'll make things less...intense?" Haley agreed.

"Fine. If it will make the three of you feel better," Tereza says, closing her eyes.

"Computer, load personal training simulation 25. Empty."

"Loading program 'High Noon'." The computer chirps in response as a stereotypical western frontier town shimmers into existence around Tereza.

Tereza glances around the town, noting some of the buildings. "Lots and lots of breakables," she mutters.

"Is the hum getting fainter?"

"No," she says with some conviction, "It's still getting louder."

"Well...guess we can't fool it about what time of day it is," Haley said, looking down into the room apprehensively.

"Well, it was worth the shot." she says, before turning off the microphone for a moment. "I'm not sure if it would have either way, but she's seeing this as an inevitability and that's not good."

"Aye," she sighs.

"We tried negotiating with it, in her mind. It said... it's going to try to stay lucid. It's only been around for the night. It seemed to... regret attacking me."

"Had no qualms about threatening me," she added.

"That's something at least. Could be an angle for her to use if you'd be okay going in there. Or it might make her worry and freak out, but that's what I'm here for, I suppose."

"I... I could go down there if you think it'd help."

"I could try to keep a TK bubble around you...keep you from getting bit,"

"Good, do that." she says to Haley before turning back towards Sam. "Honestly, I don't know but it might give her incentive to try. And I'm going in there with you, in case it doesn't work."

"...I can try to keep you both bubbled, but probably not a chance in hell I can snoop for incoming telepathic intruders at the same time."

"I'll be watching for that."

In the Danger Room, Tereza is studying one of her hands, inspecting the nails idly. That stops abruptly as the hand spasms and flexes.

"Looks like we're out of planning time. Don't worry about me." she says before switching the mic back on. "Tereza, Sam and me are going to come in. We think the urge to not hurt her is going to help you." she says and heads down into the simulation proper without waiting for a response.

Sam hurries to keep up with Miss Kinney, heading into the simulation.

As they arrive, the change is already in full swing and the sounds of bones popping, cracking, and realigning are there to greet them. Claws dig furrows in the 'ground' as muscles randomly contract. A howl of pain rolls into a howl of ecstasy as the change ripples towards it's completion.

"Ooph." Laura winces in sympathy. "That looked rough."

"I'm still not used to what that looks like from the outside."

Haley covered her mouth with her hand as she watched from the observation deck, eyes wide. That the end result was scary she knew from her time in Tereza's mind yesterday...that the change looked so excruciating was a surprise.

"Holy shit," she gasped into her hand, just staring in awe.

It took every ounce of her will to make herself focus and be ready to bubble Sam and Laura.

Tereza's head pops up, eyes scanning the area and apparently somewhat confused at the sun. Finally, the eyes settle on Sam and Laura and a low growl rumbles in her chest.
