Since they were apparently super-powered in some regard, the thugs that Nailah and Haley had captured were relegated to the University's temporary custody. A cursory blood test showed that they didn't appear to be mutants, but they obviously had dangerous abilities so they'd been left to sit while people tried to figure out who was going to take responsibility for them.
