Patience Is Not A Virtue With Which I Am Afflicted

[Tereza Rozanov]

Tereza wanders the halls of the point, looking for Laura. She started at Laura's office and was working her way out from there, trying to track the other woman down. It would probably have been a better idea to wait for Laura to return, but Tereza wasn't in the mood to sit.

[Laura Kinney]

Pacing by her actual office Tereza probably would have waited all day for Laura. Hanging around the Point however did reward her eventually. The older woman rounds the corner and nods at Tereza when she spots her prowling the hall.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Just the person I'm looking for," Tereza says, acknowledging the nod. "I have some stuff you might be able to help with."

[Laura Kinney]

"Is it punching? Please tell me it's punching and not paperwork..."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"For the Headmistress' sake, we'll do our best to avoid paperwork, but it might involve some punching and if it doesn't, I could use a round or two in the Danger Room," Tereza says, "Russia had some interesting revelations."

[Laura Kinney]

"Oh? Anything helpful?"

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Well, aside from the Russians not being the only direct players on the field, I ran into a woman who claims to be my biological mother." She explains some of the conversation with Natalya, or at least what she considers the relevant bits.

[Laura Kinney]

Laura's expression darkens significantly throughout Tereza recounting what happened.

"Some assholes just never learn..." she growls.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"The Headmistress is trying to find more information on this Natalya, but she halfway suggested that I make a trip back to the facility I was 'trained' in to see if it would shed any more light on what they did to me."

[Laura Kinney]

"If that's what you want... Going back to these kinds of places can bring back some bad memories. Speaking from experience."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I don't know that I have a choice. Especially if there's a chance they're doing this to others."

[Laura Kinney]

"While you're right I want you to at least consider that you can't let these people control what you do even after you've slipped their grasp. I know that's not very helpful advice when there's this kind of shit going on, but just... keep that in mind, I guess?" Heartfelt advice is not exactly her strong suit but she's trying.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Okay, let me rephrase then," she says after thinking it through, "I'm not going to let them do this to others if I have anything to say about it."

[Laura Kinney]

"Better. Don't ask me why, but it works to not phrase it like that. Otherwise this shit gets real messy, especially when your mom gets involved. Or... who passes for the next best thing. Shit gets into your head."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I've got more than enough 'mothers' at the moment, I think," she says with the briefest of sighs. "I do have some leads that this Natalya was active in Madripoor at one point in time. Freeing slaves if the reports are true."

[Laura Kinney]

"Sounds like something I'd do. I already like this one better than the nutjob we got locked up in the cells."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Less pondering the nutjob in the cells is probably for the best. If the rumors on the internet are to be believed, Natalya was working with someone named Yukio when she was in Madripoor."

[Laura Kinney]

"There's a name I haven't heard in a while..." she says with a bit of an inscrutable face.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"It was a lead I was thinking of following up on. Should I just let it sit?"

[Laura Kinney]

"No, she's good people." she's forced to admit. "Just... ancient history, that's all. Nothing she's gonna hold against us."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Us?" Tereza raises an eyebrow.

[Laura Kinney]

"The X-Men."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Ah," Tereza says, "I guess now I just need to figure out what to prioritize."

[Laura Kinney]

"Tough call. Madripoor's a shithole that's chewed up and spit out the toughest people. I'd feel bad about letting you walk in there by yourself. Russia might be more pressing just because we know they're still doing this shit, even if that particular location's been shut down. What are you planning on telling Natalya anyway if you find her? If that's not too personal of a question..."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I haven't really thought that far ahead," she says, "I just need to know more. Maybe she cares, maybe she doesn't, but..." Part of me wants a mother who didn't want to give me away. "... I just need to know more."

[Laura Kinney]

Laura nods. "Then you have to ask yourself what's more important to you right now. And I don't think there's a right or wrong answer..."

[Tereza Rozanov]

Tereza thinks about it for a long moment, "Russia's more important at the moment. Stopping them from doing this to other people is more important than my own stuff. Should this be a team thing or a small crew... in your professional opinion?" There was the ghost of a smirk on her face.

[Laura Kinney]

"The fewer people the easier it'll be to get into a closed city like that. And if it's still abandoned there shouldn't be much need for a big team. But this is the kind of thing I used to go at alone like an idiot." she says with bit of a shrug.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Chase is coming off our recent trip to Russia, but I suppose I could ask him. Haley, maybe?"

[Laura Kinney]

"Haley's not exactly subtle, but if you think you can sneak her in... Having a heavy hitter is never a bad backup plan."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Haley can probably shut me down if it gets to be too much and as much as I want to say that's not going to happen, I need to be prepared for that fangy possibility."

[Laura Kinney]

"Sounds like you made up your mind then. And need some flight lessons."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Flight lessons or someone to fly the plane," she says, "I'll take either."

[Laura Kinney]

"One's considerably more effort, but more people who can fly it wouldn't hurt..."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Well, best to get started then. Those Russian assholes aren't going to wait forever."

[Laura Kinney]

"Take some time to work through the theory. This has been going on for years, taking some time to make sure you're not going to crash the supersonic jet isn't going to make much of a difference. And then I'll put the two of you through a test run in the Danger Room this Friday. Minamida did a lot of automation work on the damn thing, but this isn't like driving a car. Or even like flying a regular plane."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Yeah, I understand. Just need to sink my teeth into something..." She frowns, "And probably not the metaphor I want to use."

[Laura Kinney]

"If you need to blow off some steam, you apparently know where to find me." she smirks.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I seem to always need to blow off steam these days. Whatever this is, it feeds on itself," she says, though there's really no regret in her tone.

"Nothing wrong with that as long as you stay in control."
