Is This ~Really~ Necessary?

[Lt. Sara VanBuren]

Will was sitting on his underwear on a lab bench as the military boffins ran him through a series of standard, baseline checks. He looked...bored, for one. Conflicted, for another.

"Alright, now we're going to test your reflexes," Lt. Van Buren said. "To make sure that the chemicals aren't interfering with your brain, OK? I'm going to tap your knee, and if you could just give a big kick for me, that would be super," she smiled.

Will sighed, and nodded, and, yup, kicked.

[Toshiro Narumi]

Tosh, still in his lab coat, inadvisably barged in on trained military personnel. But in a nervously polite Tosh sort of way as it wasn't technically urgent.

"Excuse me but I need Will for a minute," he said quickly.

[Will Stanton]

"We're kind of in the middle of something,"the lieutenant smiled at him. "I'm sorry, but you'll have to come again lat..."

Will cut her off.

"No no, it's fine. Tosh, what do you need? Anything. ANYthing at all," he said, with something of a sense of urgency.

[Toshiro Narumi]

"You know that... uhh... thing... you mentioned about exotic birds after we got you back? Are there lizards there too? Like, chameleons?" he asked in the most suspicious non-suspicious way possible.

[Will Stanton]

"...The ground hen is in the pantry, I repeat, the ground hen is in the pantry?" Will asked, confused.

[Toshiro Narumi]

"What? No, the sci-fi thing... with the birds?"

[Will Stanton]

"Tosh, I'm having a bit of a rough day. The sci-fi thing with the b...

OH. Oh. The sci-fi thing with the BIRDS. I thought...I don't know why we're talking like secret agents here."

The rest of the room was looking at Tosh and Will strangely.

[Toshiro Narumi]

"Because... shit... they already know about the bird people don't they?"

[Will Stanton]

"I mean, yeah. These guys deal with interstellar phenomena, I'm sure they know what you're talking about...once you talk about something."

Lt. Van Buren was frowning at Will and this conversation in general.

[Toshiro Narumi]

Will trusted these people, so Tosh decided to stop being cagey and evasive. He was terrible at it anyway. But he might as well phrase it as to not ask for military secrets.

"Back on your Earth, did you ever run across an extraterrestrial race with shapeshifting abilities and green blood?"

[Will Stanton]

Will sat up, concerned, and hopped off the table. "Why are you asking this? Do you have something?"

"Will, you need to stay put so we can get a baseline," Van Buren complained.

[Toshiro Narumi]

"Enough to think those corporate science weirdos Sam and the others faced aren't locals."

[Will Stanton]

"It's possible. The word you're looking for are 'Skrulls'. Reptillian shapeshifters from another world."

[Toshiro Narumi]

"Ohh-kay then. Time to call a meeting of the Justice League. We've got secret lizard people."

[Will Stanton]

"Look, whatever's going on, I'm sure it can wait, right? This is very important and delicate work we're doing here," Lt. Van Buren complained.

Will rolled his eyes at Tosh as he sighed. "I'll be there...fast as I can."
