Sep 5th - Ice And Sand

[Tereza Rozanov]

Tereza breathed deeply as the first chunky ice figure, about half the height of an actual person, bobbed out of the surf, gaining its feet and walking towards her. She was sitting cross-legged on the sand and the figure bowed to her and turned back to face the ocean. It started shadow-boxing at the ocean, it's movements slow and deliberate as Tereza continued her slow breathing and watched the figure with glowing eyes.

After a little bit of shadow-boxing, she held out her left hand and ice streamed from it, forming into a second figure almost identical to the first. The two figures bowed to each other and then started mock-sparring. Their movements were still slow and they weren't making impact, but they were moving and reacting to each other.

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"Most impressive. They are yours?" Vivienne boldly asked the young woman seated on the sand.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I'm animating them, yes," Tereza said, sparing a glance at Vivienne.

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"I see, they are not independent from you. You also chose their shape?" She found a large boulder to sit on.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Well, yes. They're just constructs. One out of ice I created myself and the other is from frozen sea water. It's just what I do."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"Crude, but imaginative. Impressive that you can hold two that size." She held out her hand low beside her and pulled a small spring through the sand. Her skin and eyes changing as she directed the water over the two figures. As the water moved over the ice, it quickly melted to refine their features to resemble Tereza.

[Tereza Rozanov]

Tereza frowned and Vivienne could probably sense an icy grip try to solidify the water and take control of it away from her, reverting the figures to their previous nondescript state. "A water manipulator... just what I need."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"I meant no offense." She returned to "normal" and let Tereza take over.

"Your control is impressive and ice is far superior for offensive tactics. Do you know this one?" She focused and moved the water over the sand, collecting up grains as it rolled. The effect very similar to a snow globe.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I only work with ice, so no, I don't know that one. My power doesn't let me do anything to liquid water except freeze it."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"Adapt, you can freeze anything wet." She smiled.

"Like wet sand." The water orb rolled over to Tereza.

[Tereza Rozanov]

Tereza's eyes flashed and the orb froze rock solid, the air in the vicinity becoming bone-chillingly cold. "Just because I can freeze anything, it doesn't mean that I should."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

Vivienne sat quietly a moment before speaking again. "May I be so bold as to ask of you too have realized there are sources of water then the obvious?"

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I'm not sure what you're talking about," Tereza said, finally actually turning to look at Vivienne.

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"Knowledge is power, some powers are not worth the truth of the knowledge required to obtain them." She smiled softly, her eyes and skin still blue green.

"Would you agree?"

[Tereza Rozanov]

"That would depend on the intent of the individual seeking the power. Knowledge of an opponent's techniques gives you an edge against them."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"I am curious to know what a human would do with such knowledge. I think you would be very wise. Just because you can, does not mean that you should. Correct?" She slowly returned to human.

[Tereza Rozanov]

At the word 'human', Theresa's eyes narrowed. "Don't confuse me with the obnoxious illiterates outside the gate. They're 'human'."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"I assure you I am most unfamiliar with what lies beyond the gates of this place and please know, I do not mean offence. Most of the Court view those in this place as aberrations, even abominations, in the best light simple variants of the human species. I did not think you wished to be referred as such.Truthfully, you and the others in this place are not simply human and I would be similarly offended if I were called a nixie or a fairy, but they have yet come to an agreement as to what to call you and your unique kind."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Wait, fairy? So they're allowing the currently insane into the school now?"

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"Not a fairy, they have wings. The nasty ones are pixies, nixes are the water variety. I am half fae, my mother is what humans call a nymph or naiad. I am surprised that your unique kind seem to have such trouble believing me, when you yourselves can create mirror images of yourselves or manipulate ice with your bare hands."

[Tereza Rozanov]

Tereza still looked skeptical, but best not to anger the crazy person. "We don't run into your kind very often. We run into our own kind more and more frequently."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"A very few remained either by choice of by exile after the barrier was raised. I am the first in a very very long time to cross over willingly. The last time we had contact with humans, it was disastrous. The unusual way you..forgive me, they loathe what is different and what they can not control, yet fight so hard to be different and against being controlled is baffling to the Court."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"We suffer because we're different and they're afraid of what we can do. And when we stand up and defend ourselves, we're causing trouble and we're dangerous."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"In all honesty, most of the Court already thinks this about all humans, unique or not." She gave a slight shrug.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Cause what the universe needs is more judgmental assholes."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"It seems to be a deep seeded reaction, you yourself assumed I was insane simply because you had, until a moment ago, never met a member of the Fae race and were more than likely taught that we do not exist. In truth, it would be foolish to judge all fae by what you now know of me as it would be for me to judge all humans by the four unique variants I have met. There will always be at least one who is worth defying everything for."

[Tereza Rozanov]

Tereza mulled that last sentence over for a bit. "Spoken like someone who believes that happily ever after is an actual thing."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"Not ever after, perhaps, but for a time. I never knew my father and my mother was severely disciplined by the Court for helping him. She still speaks of him fondly and there has never been anyone else. She still chooses to speak against the Court because he made her believe that there will always be some among you worth fighting for."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I suppose." She didn't sound convinced.

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"The statement is more theory then practice to me and having only met four humans in my lifetime, I do not think I am suitable to judge the entire race." she smiled.

"I am Vivienne and I will leave you to your practice now. There is still many places to explore on this "campus"." She stood and made a very careful small curtsy.

"Another time perhaps."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I'm sure there will be other times," Tereza said. "I'm Tereza by the way. I'm in room 117 if you decide you want to talk human-mutant relations again."
