Natalie has effectively locked herself away in the workshop. She's still dressed in her black dress, but here she is, sitting in one of the workshop chairs and watching code materialize on a screen. By her face, she's been crying recently, but engrossing herself in her code has shut all of that down. She's also electronically hijacked the workshop's sound system and it is currently blasting some electronic music.

Tosh, having been headed to the workshop to test a spontaneous coding idea on his trio of robot drones, came upon Natalie and could tell without seeing her face that she was upset. For a while, he worked quietly at his own work desk and minded his own business but his empathetic nature soon got the better of him.

"Want to talk about it?" he asked.

"Do you like to talk to people about when you're an idiot?" She says, still mostly focused on her programming. She sighs and takes a deep breath. "I'm sorry. That was unnecessarily harsh."

There's a long pause, "I... misread a situation. People are too bloody unpredictable... You're missing a semicolon at the end of line 105... I should just stick with machines. Technology is predictable at least."

He corrected his oversight without complaining about backseat coding and said, "But it's that very unpredictability that makes people interesting. Art, music..."

"... romance?" he guessed from the techno 80s love song remix.

That last word makes Natalie wince, but she schools it away. "I don't know. I wish people weren't so interesting sometimes."

He closed his arms around her and held her gently, without further nosy comment. She'd talk if she wanted to.

After a long silence, she says, "Thanks, Tosh." The tone's a little flat, but that usually means part of her mind is deep into some technology, something he's used to from the Institute.

"Motion-triggered movement-assistance programming," she says, "A small part of a large project. Basically, start to move your leg and the software runs devices that assist with the movement."

"Though probably power armor."

"Working on the extremities first. Legs specifically because they don't require fine movements like the fingers. I want to prototype it with the Danger Room before we try anything physical, just for feasibility and budget."
