[X-Men: Next Class] Intro/Premise

With the MRA running rampant in the US, the Institute relocates to the much more friendly UK. While the plan was originally to expand the university outside Maldon to accommodate the Institute, the UK government made that difficult, instead requesting that the new mutant haven be moved to a new campus location outside of Cardiff, leaving the Institute and University as separate, but related, entities.

With mutant assistance, the Cardiff location was quickly constructed and when the time came to look for staff, the members of the first class from XU became the primary candidates. This provides the Institute with both the ample protection of seasoned heroes and mutants comfortable with a variety of powers to tutor the next generation.

Assisted by the Intercept operating system, a large portion of the campus is fully automated. The campus has its own Danger Room, though this isn't public knowledge and it is supposed to only be used for powers practice. There has been discussions of fielding the Institute students in non-hazardous search-and-rescue and disaster recovery scenarios to build good will and give the students experience. This has not been cleared yet, so it's mostly talk at this point.

This is about 10-15 years down the road, so about where the current XU faculty is now. Feel free to bring whatever character over, just keep in mind that while the Institute would have more advanced courses than a typical high/secondary school, characters are probably going to have much more general teaching job (like "science" or "history") than they would have teaching university.

Tereza has been tapped to be a part of the security staff for the new Institute. She's been avoiding being assigned teaching duties, though she officially teaches some music and some athletics.

Wanda is the heads of the grounds staff, tasked with making sure the grounds stay neat and orderly. She teaches a few science classes as well.

The Intercept operating system is actually a creation of Natalie Denisov. While she's capable of interacting in the flesh, she much prefers to monitor the campus and its IT from a Cerebra-like tank in the tunnels under the campus. She spends a certain amount of time outside the tank as required every day, mainly for teaching computer-oriented courses, but the fastest way to find her is to either look in her lab/monitoring room or send her an e-mail/text message.

by Chisaki Watanabe
Aside from the top designer of X-Men apparel and working in chemical research for X-Corp, Chisaki became the high-school chemistry teacher and continues her 'home team' program to build the confidence of the young students of the Institute.

It's unclear if she chose baldness or the bald life chose her, but nowadays she's known to have a bare head underneath that wig of hers. At least now it's frequently of a natural colour, even if it's not her natural colour.

Somewhere between Ms.Frizzle and Sybill Trelawney, Chisaki has grown from an awkward quirky teen into an intimidatingly weird adult, who is either awesome or completely terrifying depending on your viewpoint.

Years of being around Tereza have pushed Sam steadily towards a warrior woman image that has helped her keep up on missions, including continued covert conflicts with Russia's superpowered agent programs. Truth told she would have happily continued along those lines but emerging circumstances led to her following Tereza to the new Cardiff campus. She does private telepathy tutoring, and is also known as one of the more demanding self defense instructors.

After getting her business diploma and some culinary courses, Colette took steps to realize her dream by starting her own candy company, selling handmade products through an online shop. She moved to Cardiff with her husband when he accepted a job at the new Institute. There he helped her realize her dream further by buying a small and quaint storefront which she made into her own confectionery shop, where she now sells her goods to the general public and online as well. At the institute and university she has small nooks in the school shop sections of the cafeterias where one or two students work part time to sell her sweets. One of the things she loves doing for those locations is finding out where students are from and trying to replicate treats from their home regions to give them a little taste of home when they're homesick. She regularly visits both campuses to freshen up their stock and to visit her husband during his lunch breaks, etc.

The two of them have an adopted daughter, Abigail; a little wavy-blonde 10 year old with tons of freckles and pink-framed glasses. She is a demon when it comes to football and field hockey, and is always sporting some colourful band aids or a bruise or two. Her fashion sense is "whatever she pleases", and Colette does her best to make it work.

Jezabelle Sherlock graduated from the University with a Masters in Political Science, with studies in International Affairs, Law, and History. Despite the less-than-pleasant history between herself and the Genoshan government, her experiences both there and in the UK made her an opportune choice for ambassador when the country did decide to relax its isolationist practices. She regularly teaches classes at both campuses - Social Studies at the Cadriff school and Political Sciences at the university. The Genoshan government pushes her to spend time on both campuses in the hopes of meeting mutants who feel that they will be unable to live peacefully / safely in regular society, and offer Genosha as a safe haven for them.

Basil Rosenhof finished through his master's in library sciences but due to the old bat at the university staying on, Basil remained simply 'Librarian' until his transfer to the Cardiff campus, where he promoted to Head Librarian. He teaches languages, specifically French and English, the former of which his wife Colette assists with.

He never became an official member of the X-teams but has been drug through enough shit at this point he might as well have.

Basil's main worry in life nowadays is making sure Abbie doesn't kill herself in a contact sport. He's convinced if they accidentally break her that Welfare Services won't pass out a 'loaner' to a mutant couple again.

Trev graduated with a degree in history and spent time back in the U.S. at the institute in Salem teaching history. Now that the school has relocated he’s made the journey back to the UK to continue teaching. He teaches voice lessons, private flight lessons, and is trying to get a theatre club started.

Haley, despite appearances to the contrary, has quite a mind for science and after graduating with a degree in biology spent her time working for a number of research laboratories including a recent stint at Muir. She’s teaching biology, as well as serving as a power control tutor.
