Tereza for her part is doing her best to put on her poker face. It's mostly working.

Abigail wasn't so much scared of these women (though given their powers she really should have been) as she was frustrated with still being stuck and unable to move. Which prompted her to start crying out for her father.

"Da-ddyyy! Heeeeeeelp!"

That was a phrase the man probably heard at least three times a day.

As if he were an actual super hero, Basil just appears out of nowhere (probably because he'd figured out how to do that after enough years of trial and error) seemingly to check on the child's welfare.

"Abigail, stop kicking adults. We've talked about this.

Chisaki, stop trying to eat my child. You know you swore off them."

... Or maybe he just did that because watching her from the proverbial shadows was the only way to keep her out of actual trouble.

"What a tiny narc you are." Chisaki responds, letting go of Abigail now that her father was there to watch her.

Abigail ran and hugged herself to her father's side, sticking her tongue out at the older woman but clearly it was all in good fun, otherwise she would have been hiding behind him.

"They're 'sposed to be X-men, but I was able to sneak up on her like a ninja."

"That's my girl." Basil replies with a warm smile, placing a hand on the girls head and working on righting her mop for her.

Basil had aged rather gracefully, perhaps just a by-product of the X-gene. A few of his hairs had started to grey, but most of the 'aging' he'd done was in the shape of letting himself go. Physically he was still categorized as a thin man, though he did have a little bit of a pooch from too many of Colette's homemade meals and not enough exercise. He seemed to have given up shaving regularly as well, as he always had a heavy five 'o clock shadow, though maybe that was just him trying to look roguish.

He had long ago stopped trying to keep his hair short, and had since allowed it to grow long, keeping it back in a ponytail. Since most people didn't see him most of the time, he opted for ease in his style nowadays. His clothes were still just as neat and clean, but not as formal, opting for jeans and shiny shoes with a sweater vest and a stereotypical patched elbows blazer.

"Did you ninja Ms. Rozanov and Ms. McManus as well?"

Abigail shook her head. "Nuh uh. I don' wanna get impaled like Olaf or pecked by crows."

Chisaki was the least threatening it seemed. Someone's been reading the backs of her trading cards.

“Guess I should practice so these bags of hormones and barely contained mutant powers don’t eat me alive on the first day of class,” a small blonde mused with a smirk as she approached.

“Long time no see, ladies,” she waved, her smile widening as she saw Basil. “And gentleman....well...Basil, too.”

"Shhhh, tiny ears are present." He responds, covering up the sides of Abigail's head playfully.

"She thinks I'm a prince. If you go saying stuff like that, she might catch on."

Abigail protested being shielded from the wisdom of the matriarchs, though it was probably for the best because the girl had enough bad influences upon her already. Superheroes are great role models but tend to have awful parenting advice.

Tereza snorts at that and then looks at the newcomer. "Hey, Tiny," she says with a good-natured tone.

“And for the record,” she turned back to Basil, “I’m pretty sure she already knows the truth.”

Abigail bore the kind of expression one would expect a child to have when listening to a fusion of nerds jokes and dad puns.

"Okay I'm gonna go get some juice byeeeeeee!"

Basil did watch as Abigail took off but seeing as she was more or less near her mother now, he didn't follow.

"Not if you like sleep or your sanity, no." He laughed ruefully.

"Just redirecting all of her aggressive energy into sports I don't even care about and verbally beating the concept of empathy for others into her ate all of mine."
